Zephyros Hotel
Ranked #7 of 12 Mesudiye B&B and Inns
Reviewed May 12, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for two nights, and the whole experience was wonderful. The hotel is set on the hillside above Mesudiye, and has amazing sea views from the pool, dining area and the bedroom's outside seating. The rooms are furnished incredibly tastefully, are spacious with huge beds and really comfortable. The gardens are nice also, including olive and citrus trees. We enjoyed the selection of foods at breakfast, and also ate dinner at the Zephyros. Dinner was pretty good, maybe with less choice than one might encounter in a restaurant or lokanta. The next bay along, Palamatbuku, has many more places to eat than Mesudiye, but be aware it's a very dark drive back along an exposed and sinuous coastal road! We did not have too much trouble finding the Zephyros; basically there are two roads from the main road down into Mesudiye so if you go down the wrong one, you'll find the Zephyros heading back up the other road. A good half day trip is to Knidos. I'd love to return to the Zephyros someday, the Datca peninsula is beautiful and lacks the mass tourism mess that some parts of Turkey have become.

The website/review says it's a 20 minute walk to the sea. It's not. You might be able to run down in that time if you were reasonably fit and left early enough to avoid the heat but the uphill return took me 50 minutes walking at boot camp pace after the sun had gone down and this was on the last day of September ,when it's cooler. I think even Mo Farrah would be pushed to run back up the hill in 20 minutes. A reasonably fit person should allow an hour for a comfortable walk back up (plus a tea stop in the village half way). Though it's a steep ascent, the walk/view is not unpleasant and it helped me keep fit but it's all road and the timing information is misleading. Had I known the actual distance involved this may well have put me off choosing the hotel as I didn't plan to hire a car which in end I did.
However, It is a lovely hotel with an amazing position and a big, well looked after terraced garden to wander around. Lovely reasonably priced homemade food served on the terrace but always spoilt by the TV being on constantly and ruining the peaceful atmosphere. Being English of course, I didn't think to ask for it to be switched off-prefering instead to moan about it here afterwards. I was there out of season (only just) and was for much of my stay the only guest in residence which felt slightly wierd. On the whole though (with a car) I would recommend the Zephros as it's pretty special.

Room Tip: They all look good

We visited the Zephyros Hotel before embarking on our Blue Adventure Cruise along the Turkish Meditterranian, and WOW, what a great place to start our adventure! Our gracious hosts set up a beautiful brunch upon our arrival, our room was beautiful, spacious and the grounds with all flora was astounding. The infinity pool overlooking the Sea was AMAZING! The night sky alighted with a billion stars and our cozy private room was just beautiful and so relaxing after our long air flight.
I can't recommend this hotel enough! The peacefulness, beauty, immaculateness of this place was pure excellentnesss! I was sad to leave and wished we had stayed a few more days to enjoy the splendor of this truly, unique place. I will surely come back to this truly, unique peaceful place and can't thank the management for catering to our every need and making our stay in Turkey one of the best experiences of our lives!

My husband I were so lucky to have heard about this hilltop hotel. The room we had was large and sunny. An AC unit is provided, if needed.
The bathroom was a good size and had many amneties.
We were able to view the island of Rhodes from our balcony.
No need to worry about getting to the beach, the beautiful pool area was more than satisfactory
for sunbathing or swimming. Plus there is a fun Tiki Bar poolside.
The meals were delicious! Many of the vegetables and fruits came from the private gardens on the hotel grounds.
We would have stayed longer but the rooms were booked. My husband and I will definately come back!

Room Tip: We loved the seaview rooms.

Bernardo Bertolucci should have seen Zephyros Hotel before he filmed "Stealing Beauty." With its six large rooms beautifully decorated with pastel colors and terraced grounds filled with fruit trees, oleander, and colorful bougainvilleas, this is a place not to missed. The large balconies with comfortable chairs overlook the Mediterranean and Greek islands. You can place your arms on the ledge of the infinity pool and watch the rolling hills filled with almond and olive trees all the way down to the little village of Mesudiye. Walk around the grounds and try to identify hundreds of plant species from papaya to kiwi to mulberry to cherry to citrus fruits to pomegranates. Eat a sun-warmed tomato right off the plant. This is heaven. Then you add the superb service on top of this. And you have Zephyros. Faruk and his wife, Meryem, run the place around the clock. Every vegetable and fruit are from the garden. Everyday, you have fresh farm eggs, milk and yogurt. They even make their own bread.

Don't forget to visit the ancient ruins of Knidos and cleanest beaches you can find anywhere in the world. Breathe deep to inhale the fresh air with 32% oxygen content. You will be reborn.

Room Tip: all rooms are beautiful and unique.

A fabulous, family run, 6 room small hotel overlooking the Ovabuku bay. The rooms are large and well furnished. The view is fantastic. A very quiet area and because there is no light noise excellent night sky. There is no public transport to the hotel. The beach is about half an hour walk down the hill.
