We had a great week in Topsham at the Courtyard Cottage. The cottage is well situated in the village, well equipped and cosy. Topsham is a great historic village and ideally situated as a base for travelling around Devon. There are lots of great pubs and restaurants nearby and lots of places to walk and cycle. There are only two downsides that travellers need to be aware of. Firstly, parking in Topsham is extremely limited, so be prepared for a lot of carparking fees unless you are prepared to drive off to surrounding locations by 9am, or prepared to move your car every hour for limited free car parking. Secondly, the wooden stairs on the spiral staircase to the bedroom on the second floor are very tight and very steep, so you need to be mobile and agile, particularly if you need to get up for the toilet in the middle of the night. If these are not restrictions for you, you will love staying at the Courtyard Cottage.

The cottage is beautifully presented, with a fantastic kitchen fully equipped with everything you could need. The bedroom is lovely and spacious. Topsham is a beautiful town to visit and the cottage is perfectly situated, being just off the high street so close to all the lovely restaurants, shops and the quay, but also has the benefit of being very quiet. For two Londoners this really is a treat. Thanks!
We stayed at the cottage for nearly a week while visiting friends and family in Topsham. The property has undergone big improvements in recent years, to the point that I didn't initially recognise it as somewhere I'd lived some 20 years ago!
Hazel was a pleasure to correspond with and seemed genuinely concerned that we had everything we needed before and during our stay. She even took the time to ask what sort of duvet cover my daughter would prefer! We appreciated the fresh milk and wine in the fridge on our arrival!
The cottage was handy for all the shops and pubs, the courtyard being just off the high street. It had everything we needed and was very homely! We felt it was a good price compared to other rentals in town.
Thank you Hazel!

Having just bought a boat at topsham boatyard, we needed a base to stay while we worked on the boat. This property fit the bill perfectly. If we had been on holiday it would also have been perfect, homely accommodation in a perfect location. Hope to stay longer when we return, as Topsham looks like a good place to explore.

My girlfriend and I stayed with our baby son here for a week, and it was lovely. The cottage is bright and clean, and the courtyard is very picturesque.
The facilities were top-notch and Hazel provide a cot for our son, and even left us some milk and wine in the fridge, which was very welcome!
Topsham is a sleepy little village, perfect for getting away from things for a bit, but only 10 minutes from Exeter by train or car.
I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely character cottage in a quaint location.
The village of Topsham is lovely, with many places to eat and drink on your doorstep as well as the quayside. Despite being on the High Street, the house was amazingly quiet, although you are aware of having neighbours.
Parking is a slight hassle as, if you return to the property before 5pm, you have to pay to park in car-park opposite, and/or keep an eye on how long you use the roadside parking for, but not a real problem.
The cottage is full of character and the precipitous stairs and sloping floors reflect this. Overall, headroom was fine for my 6ft 5 husband, although there are doorways to watch out for.
Generally well-equipped including lovely kitchen, good free wi-fi and I-pod dock. Since a previous review, I can reassure tea-drinkers that there is now a teapot, and my personal recommendation would be for a better selection of towels.
Lovely property in a great area. Fully recommended.
