“Great pub in Topsham”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

we stumbled upon this place while walking along the river side street before attending a gig in the Mathew Hall just up the road. What we found was a lovely friendly pub where you can eat or drink inside or outside by the river. This was Sunday early evening in March and there was a lively/friendly atmosphere inside - staff and punters alike. The menu was good although not extensive and the bar was well stocked with a good selection of beer and cider. The service was prompt and courteous, the food was excellent; the menu on the website says the steaks come with perfect chips and we have to agree. 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and drinks came to only £31.

A great find and we will definitely be back

“Passage to Topsham - food not floods”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Sunday lunch at Passage Inn - amazingly still there after being lashed by gales and very high sea waves crashing into it - though I guess 200 years standing there is pretty good!

mussels in garlic sauce really enjoyed - chrissy had the roast which was pretty OK, meat a little tough maybe, but her veg she said were to die for! we argued over who had the best pudding, my sticky toffee pudding or her posset - both yummy

Service friendly and excellent - a lot of people there and coffees took a while to come. But overall a smashing meal out and will return....

“Prices high for average food”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

lunchtime here in winter - atmosphere OK but service slow.
Menu adequate but not inspiring - and the prices seem steep for food of only average quality.
Nothing specific to complain about, but we wouldn't bother again.

“Ok but only just worth the effort on a cold January night”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

They have a lively bar with a good warm feel to it but we ate in the room beside which although connected lacked atmosphere. The food was ok but the menu disappointing but maybe we can blame that on the cold January night too. Steak and a bottle of wine for £25 is excellent value but make sure you can pair up with another meat eater. Very few vegetables. Pub grub served restaurant style.
