Description: Here at The Galley Topsham we want to impress you with 'the best of Devon on a plate'. We are passionate about serving you the freshest fish and seafood, simply and stylishly presented, together with exciting meat and vegetarian options sourced from local farms so we think we have something for everybody. We have a daily changing menu which means we only serve what is in season and locally available, so you can be sure that what you are eating is of the best quality. Our a la carte menu is available at lunch and dinner. At lunch we offer a special menu of two courses for £16. So whether it's a long lingering dinner, a light lunch or a business engagement we have something to suit you. We love wine and have worked hard to create a balanced wine list that includes top favourites along with some interesting options you may not be so familiar with. We are very happy to recommend a wine to go with any of our dishes so please do ask. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed and friendly. We have no dress code and we warmly welcome families with children. Great food is nothing without great service however and we put a huge emphasis on matching the service to your needs. Nigel is on hand front of house to greet you with a friendly smile and make sure you relax and enjoy your meal. With our unique location on Topsham Quay and fabulous views over the River Exe you can soak up the atmosphere of this ancient sea port from the comfort of our two dining rooms.

My partner booked The Galley after looking at trip advisor for inspiration, we went on a Thursday lunchtime and it was surprisingly busy! With a lovely menu and excellent value 2 course lunch for £16 you really can't go wrong here! If the smells drifting out from the kitchen don't tempt you then nothing will, the roasted cod risotto is well worth a try, we will absolutely be back.

Fresh fish perfectly cooked. Superb sauces, beautifully presented. Nice decor / excellent location and views.
Service was attentive and rapid.
Generally : a really high class restaurant of world class standard located in a sleepy backwater south of Exeter !!

We had only one very small caritacism of the whole wonderful evening, and that was the slightly uncomfortable window seats. Don't book a table in the window unless you have some young people in your party that don't mind being a little squashed and uncomfortable. Everything else was perfect, food was lovely, service was swift and friendly and buzzing even on a very cold wet night last week. We will be back very soon.

This was our 3rd visit to The Galley and the food was again a real treat. The daily catch was in our favour as we had John Dory, scallops and Sea Bream. All delicious. This restaraunt is small in size and this was the first time we have been seated upstairs. I found this area lacking any atmosphere, the decor was lacking with little if any character. We were alone for half the meal then joined by two other tables and as there was no other distractions it was difficult not to hear what the people on the other tables were talking about. The atmosphere downstairs was buzzing. Please make sure when booking you are going to be seated downstairs and you wont be disappointed. Expensive but food of good quality and worth it for a treat.
