“Beer and Food lots of Red Hair”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

Have always found the Journey's End to be just what you want if not more from a country Pub,
as long as you know in advance the opening times.......
Great Food and well kept Beer add to the Humour of the Owner (You Do need to get it)
Totally a Great place 10/10

“great place after a long walk!”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

My family and i ate here last weekend and we loved it here. The whole atmosphere of the pub takes me back to being a child growing up in Cornwall, when pubs were genuinely old, not done up by breweries to look old. This place feels untouched by time for at least a hundred years. We read on our way there that there is a tunnel under the bar, which was used for smuggling. The pub had a varied menu and also a bar menu, we all quickly found something we liked. The young girl behind the bar was warm and friendly and they were very family friendly. If you want to go back in time, the whole area is like a well kept secret and this pub is a place not to be missed. We'll be back!

“Excellent food & beer, barmaid indifferent. ”
Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

A late booking for an early supper got us into the restaurant. I'd drunk here several times but with larger groups, so a chance to have a quiet meal with my partner was great. Barmaid was more interested in slurping her drink than offering a cheery welcome, she wasn't rude but everything was done with the minimum effort and no enthusiasm.

Beer was excellent (Devon Dew). Garlic bread to start which was some of the nicest we've ever had. A little too long a wait between starters and main (especially as a later party of 6 got their mains before ours). However, the Veggy Linguine was superb, full of flavours and a great texture, asparagus just right and a nice touch with Chinese style "seaweed" on the side.

Time to pay and card was taken mechanically with no smile, no "How was your meal? thank you, see you again". Pity, as the indifference of the barmaid just took the edge off what was so very nearly a perfect early evening meal.

Will we be back? Yes, for food and beer, but 'heads up' Owner, your barmaid could do with customer service training.

Didn't know this place existed, friends from out of town told us about it. Lovely little pub and the food is simply stunning!

“It was like going back in time”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Stopped off at this pub on a Saturday night having left the car at Challaborough Bay. You can walk to this pub from there in 20-25 mins and I must say what an experience! The pub is full of character.... low ceilings, pictures everywhere, books and open fireplace. The bar has a very small opening and the door in to the pub is an old fashioned wooden door which is narrow and just adds to the feeling of going back in time.

The selection of beers and lagers and ciders is fine and on our visit there were a number of dogs in the pub. Overall though its just an experience you wont forget and the locals are friendly enough too..

Great stuff..
