“Check this restaurant out!”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

As we are moving to this area we wanted to try out the local cuisine. Really liked this pub. Made to feel very welcome and the food was excellent. Under new management we would like to encourage both locals and visitors to try this place out whether you want some scrummy food in the restaurant or to chill out on the sofas by the bar. Good restaurants are a wonderful part of a thriving community so have a great year Michelle and team. Thank you!!

“Superb Dinner at a great price”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

Was staying in a hotel up the road and called in for dinner. We really weren't sure what to expect, knowing that the Wheelwright had only opened under new management two days before.
We were hugely impressed! After a friendly welcome, we chose to eat in the dining room, which was lovely and cosy on a very cold evening. The service was excellent. The menu is extensive. I went for the veggie lasagne, which was delicious. My husband chose the steak and ale pie. He has eaten many pies over the years and is still saying a week later that it was the best pie he has ever tasted. The food is clearly homemade, and excellent value
for money. After delicious homemade desserts, we went into the cosy bar for a glass of wine. I think they should promote the food a lot more on the blackboard outside; it's almost mentioned as an afterthought but definitely deserves to be shouted about! We visit the area a lot, and will certainly return to eat again.

“sunday roast”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Well....What can I say...absolutely fantastic roast beef lunch....the potatoes were the best I have tasted in years, all crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, homemade huge Yorkshire and not a tinned or frozen veg insight! I had the melt in the mouth roast beef whilst my son had the roast pork. We all enjoyed the huge portions.... I couldn't eat for the rest of the day such fantastic value for 8.95. The pub itself is beautifully rustic with a warm and cosy log fire lots to look at and even little shabby chic items for sale. The new owners were very warm and friendly and the staff were lovely and very helpful.

“Great”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

We were in Colyford for a Wedding at the weekend. We ate here a couple of times and met our friends for drinks. The food was excellent, a big vote of thanks must go to Sarah who was serving both drinks and food on her own. She was brilliant.
