“Fantastic to out of this world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2010

Stayed at Swan HIll House for the third time in the past two years. On our first visit the Simon & Libby had just refurbished the property to a high standard and we thought it was fantastic then. Since that first visit the place has gone from being fantastic to being out of this world. The attention to detail, cleanliness, standard of fixtures and fittings, mini fridge in the room for milk and water, high qualitiy bed room linen, whiter than white fluffy bathroom towels. All adds up to a wonderful experience. Then you just about feel there cannot be anymore at breakfast you are greeting with what must surely be THE BEST BREAKFAST IN DEVON. We have stayed at some of the best hotels in the world and this small establishment in Colyford is up there with them and in some cases better. If you do not visit Swanhill house you will miss a wonderful experience.

We needed a B & B situated conveniently for the whole Jurassic Coast area, and were impressed with Swan Hill House's location and website. Some websites flatter to deceive, but this did not. Although situated close to a road, the accommodation was quiet and very relaxing, in a lovely, spacious, period house. Simon and Libby make you feel extremely welcome, and treat their guests with a perfect blend of professionalism and friendliness. Attention to detail is evident in everything - from the spotless rooms and en-suites through to the delicious breakfasts. We highly recommend this B & B to everyone. Bob & Sarah.

Just returned from three nights at Swan Hill House, had a wonderful time - it started well when we were upgraded to a larger room due to a cancellation. The hotel is lovely and spacious, very clean and the guest lounge is very comfy with a wide range of books and maps of the local area.

Our room was huge, with a great view and a very comfy, huge bed. The homemade biscuits, fresh milk and bottled water were all nice touches and the breakfast was fantastic - far more than you could ever eat, and the specials are a nice idea - the french toast was amazing!

Would recommend the Wheelwright for dinner, and we used Jenny at Axe Vale Cars to take us to River Cottage HQ, who was friendly and punctual. By the way, River Cottage was amazing!

The hotel is a credit to the owners, who go out of their way to be helpful and friendly - they genuinely seem to enjoy what they do and it helps to make it a special place.

This was by far the best B&B we stayed in. We were welcomed with home-made cake and tea, along with some friendly banter and conversation. The room we were in was immaculate and we really appreciated all the little touches, like fresh water and milk daily in our mini fridge and fresh almond and macaroon cakes also. Not only was there a mouth-watering selection of fruits plus a hearty full English for breakfast, but also daily specials. I had the French toast with bacon and syrup and then the next day had the Welsh rarebit - both very indulgent! Thank you Simon and Libby for a wonderful stay...we shall return!

Simon and Libby have an incredible eye for detail and everything is super perfect. From the decor in the individually styled and decorated rooms to Simon’s spectacular but very carefully prepared and well thought out top class breakfast. Everything was perfect even the biscuits that Simon baked and left in a jar next to the carefully selected tea and coffee making facility.
I was inspired to such extend that I ended up creating to as a reminder of our stay. http://www.britishlarder.co.uk/orange-polenta-and-wild-sumac-shortbread/

Swan Hill House is just the best B&B we have ever stayed at ... by a considerable margin. Simon & Libby excel as hosts, the rooms are superb, and the breakfasts are ... well ... they just HAVE to be experienced!

We have just returned from our third short break (4 days) ... and the last item on our agenda was to be sure to make a booking for our next trip!

We really can't recommend this B&B too highly.
