“TOUGH INEDIBLE PHEASANT”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2011

Invited by friends. Pheasant dry, tough, with no sauce accompanied by boiled potatoes.
Steak advertised at 8oz but portion much smaller. Hand cut fries would be better.
A very amateurish operation in dire need of an interested, talented chef.
Overall a poor dining experience.

What a fantastic 1 night stay we had in this beautiful inn. The room was sooo.. comfortable and clean and you could hear the stream running outside which sent us off to sleep quicker. The owners were very friendly and could not do enough for us and the staff and service was excellent. There was a lovely menu to choose from and the food was of a high standard. The little inn is set down in a valley with only 150 locals living in the little quaint village. Locals were very friendly and were happy to tell us the history of the inn. Breakfast was not served until 9am which was strange for us who are used to being up a lot earlier than this, so it was even more relaxing. The reviews left in a comments book in the bedroom were lovely to read and there was not 1 negative comment by a guest. Cannot wait to return. Thank you for a lovely stay!!

Imagine a perfect pub in a quiet English village, with great rooms, food and beer, and this is it. The rooms have been decorated to a high quality, and the bed was enormous. We had a lovely evening in the pub, which we were lucky to coincide with a beer festival, and had a superb meal, cooked properly and to a high standard.

Perfect!

Stayed here for a night in November 2009 amongst the storms. It was a welcome cosy retreat which was great value for money. The hosts, evening meals and breakfasts were all fantastic and we would definately return. The rooms are really stylishly decorated and pub is welcoming and traditional but not old fashioned. Food was great and the owners really friendly, plus free wi-fi throughout and Cornish Orchard Cider on tap......which was an added bonus! It's just a short drive from some great walking on the Moors. Highly recommended.

This 16th century Inn was located in a beautiful friendly Devon Village. The rooms were recently upgraded and were probably the best B&B rooms I have ever stayed in. The staff were friendly and the Inn atmospheric. On the night we were there, there was a traditional acoustic music session in the bar with at least 12 musicians playing round the tables. I believe this happens on the second Sunday of every month. I will return to this Hotell and can heartlly recommend i.t
