I have been coming to Lachania since I was young, and Platanos has consistently been a great place to meet friends, eat meals and have a drink late into the night. The owners are family, they are so friendly and hardworking. Best of all, the food is consistently of an excellent standard! The food is fresh, really tasty and authentic to the region. Favourite dishes here include horta (wild spinach), beeftekia, tzatziki and the mousaka... The portion sizes are pretty fantastic too :) I would definitely recommend coming to Lachania and visiting Platanos; sitting under the big tree in the square, drinking an Ouzo and enjoying delicious food...

Whenever you come to Rhodes, Lachania and his lovely « Taverna Platanos » is an absolutely must. You’ll find the Taverna down the village in front of the church. The place is – in a good way - very simple, wooden tables and chaires placed around a very old tree, no superficial decoration, lovely few over the valley … In the morning and during day time you’ll find a very calm atmosphere, perfect for a little rest. By night the place fills up and you’ll sit in a still reposing and familiar atmosphère, served by Michalis , Vasillis (the two sons) and John, while father Manolis and the ladies controles the cooking and take care of the wonderfull traditional greec food in the open kitchen. All dishes are fresh cooked and the main menu changes all the time. There is no hurry and no one will try to kick you out to resell your table. Take your time, and feel - for a little while – part of a greec family.
Thanks to all of you !

We stayed two weeks in Rhodes, renting a villa in Lahania and windsurfing in Prasonisi. We ate at Platanos twice and both times it was a real treat! Familiy restaurant, good atmosphere, beautifully located and real traditional greek foods. Will come back - every time we visit Rhodes.

A lovely restaurant in the town square, very quiet and restful with great views over the valley. The food is lovely - for example "peas in the oven" doesn't sound much but was fought after once tasted by others. Highly recommended place - well worth searching out - a couple of miles off the main North south road on the eastern side of the island but well signposted for the Taverna. They also sell home made olive oil and honey.
