“Nice hotel, terrible food”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

Spacious renovated rooms, nice location. The main disadvantage is the food served both for breakfast and especially for dinner! Therefore if you choose to go, do not take half board offers as we did.

We visited Asklipios Termal Spa at Platystomo, in early February for a WeekEnd, a total company of four couples... The Hotel-Spa offers this season a Half-Board Two-nights Stay with free Spa Entrance in the price of €150.

I think my review expresses everyone's thoughts (from our team)

Good points:
-Nice Spa, with really relaxing healing water and very good pool. Very good massage and normal prices
-Rooms: Very well decorated, with quite spacious room and nice bed.
-Facilities: Well presented common areas (Lobby, restaurant etc)

Bad points:
- Restaurant food: Totally missed the target both nights. The salads where plain and with no taste. We had Burgers and boiled Pork the first night and Chicken and Pasta the second night. Everything we tasted was usalted and had no taste...it actually reminded me the food we where offered at the Greek Army Forces and a bit lower quality. So bad where also the desserts... The only thing that was actually good was the Cheese-Pie and the Spinach-Pie and also the breakfast which was good enough but not that perfect and that rich for it's category
- Spa Bath Room: Very "cold" like 80's white bathrooms
- Service: The Lobby and Restaurant staff was young and totally unexpirienced. They couldn't provide us a luxury treatment, having also problem with the basic of the coomunication and the service. Shy and/or rude, anxious and non smiling, they failed to help us relax and feel welcoming, lowering very much the level of the place
- Must have a car, no public transport connections from the Hotel

Generally, it's a good place but I would totally recommend it and I am not easily coming back, as -especially that far from Athens- I would prefer other much better options

Room Tip: Back rooms (double numbers, like 14,16,22) facing the river and the pool are quiet and having better...

We had a wonderful time at a value for money room-rate: 75 euros for two persons inclusive of breakfast, dinner and thermal pool use. The pool is large enough with many hydro-jets for therapeutic use but also for fun. The hotel is 4* with a luxury lobby and large rooms, nice sitting area with bar and classic restaurant, ample parking space. Away from the city, surrounded by lots of green and a little river. There is an outdoor infinity pool for summer. Very beautiful! Service was excellent and the only downside was the rather poor breakfast and dinner buffet. But still VERY adequate for the price...

Been there last weekend, with a couple of friends. The spa facilities were fine, the rooms clean and neat, excellent view from the rooms, but the main disadvantages could be concentrated below:
- Basic road signing to guide you to the hotel is missing. It should be more easy to find the hotel.
- The food variety is poor, the salads bad and not tasty at all
- The shower is the rooms was malfunctioned. When our friends in the next room were taking their shower, we could not take our bath, because the temperature of the water was changing all the time. Furthermore, the shower was corroded...
- The telephone communication between the rooms was not possible.
- The massage beds had a small face hole, that was making a mark on your face, despite the towels that the personel was putting around the hole...
- Bad performance of the singer who was singing in the lounge of the hotel

I have to say though, that the personel of the hotel and spa was excellent (reception-room service-massage personel) but the personel of the restaurant seemed young and unexperienced.

Ι have to say that, generally I would wait more from a "4 star resort & spa", but it was quite an amusing and relaxing weekend 3 hours away from Athens.

During last year, many groups of our travel agency selected this hotel in order to relax away from daily city situations. The place is suitable for this in accordance with the hotel's staff and the whole settlement (buildings, spa center, rooms, cafe-bar, restaurant etc)

It's a wonderfull and most relaxing experience to spend a weekend in this hotel.
What makes his hotel special is the indoor pool with the various sofisticated hydromassage streams and the nearby peacefull and relaxing springwater pool.
The spa offers also a hamam and various massages and treatments. The massages were OK to good, depending on the efficincies of the masseur.

The hotel rooms are spacious, clean and well equiped (flat screen TV with various international channels included).

I would not recommend the breakfast and the food in general (it's just OK). But there is a very good typical psistaria (grill taverna) called with the funny name Kolotoumpas on the way to makrakomi, just 1 km of the Lamia - Karpenisi road, Vary tasty and good quality and very very cheap.

The area is vey nice for excursions, close to Oiti and Tymfristos mountains.

Room Tip: I would recommend to ask a room facing the small river

We found the same offer with the previous review, through internet (120 € for 2 nights including breakfast, entrance to the indoor pool and dinner). The hotel is quite isolated away from the city (or you can say village) lights. The first impression was suprisingly good. A very well decorated 4 star hotel (even the books which were on the bar tables were very interesting), with very friendly and helpfull staff. Spacious rooms, nice outdoor pool and large parking. The only negative was that there were a very small variety of main meals on dinner time (2 or 3 choices) and just 1 or 2 salats and apetizers. Breakfast was very inadequate (omelate, boiled eggs, fried eggs, suasages, bacon, a big variety of marmelades, melted chocolate, 2 different juices, milk and coffee. I might forget something... But the best experience we had on this hotel was the free entrance into the indoor swimming pool, which was full of "healing" water right from the close mineral springs. Jacuzzi, water cannons and curtains made you feel relaxing and refreshed. Definetely worth the price and the time we stayied away from sea during August. Its approximately 245 kilometres away from Athens around 2 and a half hours. Worth a visit. I assume that during Winder, with full of snow aournd will be much better.

Room Tip: Search internet or call them-They might give you a good offer
