The view was very nice. So much for the good news. Several elements made the house absolutely not worth the rental price. The house was not clean at all. Partly because the house is old, dusty and has stains on ceiling and walls (due to humidity?), but mainly because the cleaning was not done properly. The kitchen was not equipped for the number of people the house can host. Worst of all was the horrible smell of the septic tank coming from the basement and making the ground floor (and on certain days also the terrace) extremely unpleasant.
On top of these inconveniencies, the land lady was not honest at all. She asked a cleaning cost of 300 euro when we arrived and increased the cost while we were in the house. And on top, she deducted part of the guarantee for damages which were made before we arrived in the house and of which we had even evidence. No discussion possible. If you rent the place, which we would not recommend, beware of the smile of the owner.
The house in Cannelle is big enough to accommodate 17 people and the view from the terrace is fantastic. However, it is an old house which definitely needs redecorating. Especially the sanitary equipment is not in line with the huge rent. In our room, the toilet was literally next to the bed and on top of that the flush didn't work properly. To get to our room we had to go downstairs and the further down we went the more we could smell the septic tank. This smell was even stronger in the other room downstairs. Not particularly nice to sleep... If you want to prepare food for 17 people I advise you to bring some big pots and pans because the available ones are simply not sufficient. The worst part of all, however, is the dishonest owner. Upon arrival we were told that cleaning would cost 300 euros if we did not do it ourselves. By the way, it was not properly cleaned when we arrived. When we left, all of a sudden the price had gone up to 350 euros: completely random! And it's not finished. We paid a 1000 euro deposit !! and we only got back 900 euros. The reason? According to the lady of the house we had broken a window during our stay. Nobody knew anything about it, so one member of the group looked into this. What she discovered was pure fraud: the broken window we had been sent a picture of via email also appeared, after enlarging the photos, in the description of the house we had consulted before booking. The owner has simply stolen 100 euros, not to mention the huge cost of the cleaning. Beware of the smiling lady of the house if you are planning to book!!
The owener has changed prize of cleaning service. Has kept 100€ for 2 glasses wich had been replaced with 3 and a broken window wich was already broken before our arrivel. C
