The perfect holiday home - beautifully equipped, situated on the edge of the village with shop and cafe close by. Perfect for all ages with the beach only a short walk, a play park for the young at heart and a lovely private garden. Elspeth takes grate pride in her property and it shows. A place to unwind, make memories and live the dream.
What a beautiful house, Auld School House. Full of charm yet cosy. Everything you need for a fantastic holiday. Location amazing, beach right on your doorstep, we took our Weimaraner and what a pleasure to just open the door and he could run on the beach. The house was fully equipped, we wanted for nothing. Washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher , everything. Beautifully clean, lovely enclosed gardens. We were even greeted by Elspeth with a plate of homemade shortbread.
Plenty of places to visit, and we were even lucky with the weather. Highly recommended and we will no doubt return. Thank you Elspeth
We stayed for a week in August and wow what an amazing week. The beach is gorgeous, it's pretty empty and when the tide is out - well you can walk for miles. We even went in the warm water!!!! The cakes next door were delish and treated ourselves to ice cream from the shop and loved it. We went to the chocolate factory which is a must for anyone who has kids. We took our 2 dogs and they loved it. Pub has an amazing restaurant and we enjoyed some lovely food. There's some great walks around and the views were incredible.
We'll definitely be back.
Spent a great week here, house had everything we needed and being right beside he beach was lovely. Loads to do in the area and nice that the village has both a tea room and restaurant.
We have just spent a week in this gorgeous detached house and have loved every moment! Elspeth was amazing , helping to resolve issues (completely out of her control) super quickly! My mam is in love with the new washing machine!!!! The property is well equipped and was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. The gardens were lovely and we had loads of parking and space to store things like my daughters Trike in sheds and the like.
The beach directly opposite was amazing. My daughter and all our dogs spent the vast majority of our holiday there.
I can honestly say it has been one of the nicest holiday cottages we have stayed in. Highly recommended!
Lovely holiday in a fantastic setting, just a few small issues -
Not a lot of info given so had to keep emailing owner.
The floors and surfaces were quite dirty/dusty/sticky and I'm more aware having a toddler.
The owners kept coming to do gardening too which was a tad off putting and once parked over the drive leaving us having to park elsewhere lugging the baby and the bags, not on when we have paid for it to be ours for the week!
The lock on the front door is a bit dodgy although it is a quite crime free area.
There is a noisy birds nest in landing cupboard preventing front double bedroom from sleeping properly. I love birds but not when they're skwalking until early hours.
However overall I would recommend as I think the pros outweigh the cons, perfect setting for a young family as the beach is right across the road along with a park and a family pub/restaurant in walking distance. All other areas worth visiting within a half ours drive, recommend Port Logan and Portpatrick and Mull of Galloway.
Great holiday. 9/10.
Enjoyed a fantastic break at Sandhead. The house is perfectly located with direct access to miles of sandy beach, plus numerous sandy bays just a short distance way. The house is well appointed with wifi, dishwasher, washing machine etc etc. we loved sitting on the summer seat in the front garden enjoying the late summer sun watching the sea.
The locals were really friendly as is Elspeth who owns the house. I would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break in a lovely part of the country.
