“Lots of Character”

This is our 10th visit to Karaga in the Diamond room. Don't judge this hotel on Western city standards. The staff will do anything for you and are extremely polite and the price is very good. We will continue to return to tis wonderful place

Rooms too small and a bit high for what they have to offer. The room " diamond" is of nice size but no more to offer from the smaller rooms. House keeping doesn't clean the room all that well, and the food not that good either. Some things needed fixing that wasn't getting addressed as it should. The ac units in the rooms except the Diamond can't be adjusted. The buttons are missing ect. I don't suggest staying there for many weeks at a time, maybe a night at best that's about it. Not worth the money and you can do better at other hotels in the area just by doing the research. We stayed there four days and moved to another hotel when we had planned to stay there several weeks. So I suggest don't stay there.

This was our ninth visit to this hotel and it still holds a special appeal. Sure its not the most modern hotel but its staff and character makes for a memorable visit.
We had the Diamond Suite each visit which has a massive size bed and had 2 stretcher beds for the 2 teenager children.
The restaurant downstairs serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is good.
OK, the hotel needs a good dose of renovaton but this can be said of most hotels in this region. LOok beyond the aging face and enjoy the character of the karaga where the staff does look after you

Really not worth it. Hotel Karaga has been a big disappointment. I saw about 4 or 5 rooms and none of them was really worth the money.
The standard rooms (800/900 pesos for standard single/double) didn't have any windows or daylight.
I ended up taking a single deluxe room for one night for 1300 pesos and found that nothing was really working properly. The air con box couldn't be adjusted as all the buttons were either missing or broken and the only thing that was actually functioning was the electric fan (very noisy), not the air con itself. At night it was much cooler outside on the small balcony than inside the room.. The bathroom was small and really, really basic with water leaking out of the shower and a just about decent toilet. Overall the hotel is run down and in need of renovation and a good scrub with things like broken tiles and light bulbs gone out. Also, removing the carpeting from the rooms and hallways would be a good idea since it really doesn't appeal to anybody in such a hot weather.
Few things on the plus side: the size of the rooms is good and the night shift staff is really kind and professional. Also, hotel Karanga right in the centre of town, which is ideal.
Overall: to be avoided at all costs!

Room Tip: To be avoided at all costs!! You are better off giving your money to charity!
