I booked this villa for late May early June in this area of Apulia in the heel of Italy. Google Maps will help you find your way as there is no real address. However the agents were on time and waiting for us, extremely helpful and willing to answer all our questions and they had kindly left us some provisions in the fridge as well as a couple of local dishes of parmigiana and baked pumpkin with polenta which we could have for dinner as we had arrived quite late.
The rooms are all beautifully made up. There is one real troulli room. These are the old fashioned grain storages and sleeping in this room is quite an experience, though because of the stone walls, it was quite humid. The villa sleeps 8 comfortably with four double rooms. There are additional beds which can be made up within those rooms. What we loved about the villa, apart from the beautiful architecture was the fact that we were in a walled garden with the most wonderful citrus trees, strawberry plants growing along the ground, basil in pots and olive trees dotted about. The lavender and rosemary bushes were among the most fragrant I have ever come across. The kitchen is well equipped, and the lovely long table by the pool makes for easy meals al fresco. We barbecued, we had aperos and lots of local wine. The pool is beautiful and there is also a little fitness centre for those who are very keen. The closest supermarket is about 10 mins away in the car. Food is very cheap as is the wine. The nearest beach area is Otranto which is picturesque with a walled fortress and a port. There are quaint villages and many historic towns near by to explore. We loved our stay here.
We had a wonderful week at this Masseria. The biologically treated big swimming pool is perfect (doesn't dry the skin) and the rooms are very beautiful. A tasteful construction.
If you hope to cook a lot yourself, the kitchen is to small and not equipped enough (but we did get a nice welcome-meal, made by la mama).
We had some trouble with low electricity wich made the dishwasher breackdown and internet is a problem to (which you will probably have everywhere in Puglia).
But all in all we had a great week in this beautiful villa.
Stayed here as a group of 8 for a week, completely blown away by the stunning setting in which the buildings are set in. Driving is absolutely essential here as nothing is in walking distance. The surroundings are so peaceful and relaxing, as it was October, it wasn't as warm as it would be in the summer, but on the hottest day, relaxing by the pool for the day, felt like we was in paradise. This is a fantastic place to stay if you are after complete relaxation! Each bedroom is unique and completely beautiful on there own ways. Highly recommended to a family who wants peace and to get away from the rush of every day life.
