“Wow how fresh is the trout and all the other homemade food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

We have recently moved to Axat, and during my research, had noticed the reviews for the place. Also talking to other residents in the village they had taken visitors there the night before for a meal. Driving up it looks rather unassuming, but as soon as you walk in the owner makes you feel very welcome, quickly realising we were English. They have a large selection of Belgium beers, and as for the food, it was fantastic. Try the trout caught an hour before perfectly cooked served with lots of fresh veg and a huge bowlful of lovely crisp chips. Had nice touches like the Amuse Bouche, and the owner made you feel relaxed and welcome enough to ask about anything on the menu, which has cleared up some questions for me. The desserts are all homemade and although feeling very full still managed one. We chose from a set price menu for 29 euros, but loads of choice. Just can't wait to go again. If you haven't booked get there early.

“Amazing Restaurant ITS A MUST!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

We recently visited the restaurant and we absolutely fell in love with it. I don't know where to begin....the setting is stunningly beautiful, there are 20 different beers available!, the host is so welcoming and extremely helpful, the food was to die for, you have the whole evening to take it all in, children were very welcome, very relaxed but very high quality restaurant and great value for money. We look forward to visiting again next year.

“Fantastic restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

We have visited this restaurant four times. On each occasion the food is superb. The host and his chef wife are charming and nothing is ever too much trouble. The meat is excellent but if you are not a meat eater then the freshly caught trout are always tasty as well. A very special place to visit.

“Still a treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

I echo the very positive reviews below. The owners, Christophe and Linda, took us in on a Sunday afternoon after they had technically closed. Very similar experience with both top notch food and wonderful, warm service. And a nice selection of Belgian beers to boot. "Can't Miss" if you are in the area.

“Terrific food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

We had a wonderful meal on a wet cold night in southern France. But the minute we walked in the door, we felt warm and welcome. The food was fresh and hearty. We had the trout just hours before caught in the river Aude. The homemade desserts, particularly the Brazilian tart, were delicious. The owner was so friendly and welcoming, making it a very enjoyable evening for a couple of Americans new to the area. Not to be missed if you are anywhere close to Axat.
