“Delightful home in a great setting”
Reviewed October 11, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

A great little find. A beautiful and quirky apartment at the top of a wonderful old mill. The setting is lovely, with a terraced garden where you can sit and view the mountains and the scenery.

The apartment is tastefully decorated, all white walls adorned with the owners art. With a grand old dining table and comfy sofa, we were happy to return there and eat in most nights - it's such a romantic setting. The galley kitchen is small but very well equipped, and Maria provides some basics, like coffee, olive oil (from her trees) and balsamic vinegar.
The apartment is quite quirky and not for anyone with disabilities, as it has two high steps up into the bedroom, which is spacious and again tastefully done. The bed was a little hard for us - but that's a personal preference. The bathroom is open plan, tucked behind a wall - with plenty space and a good shower. The toilet is snug - to say the least! All in all, we loved it. The road up to the apartment is a rough track, but there are plans to pave it in the near future.

The location is great, as there is so much to do and see within the vicinity. Dolceacqua (5 mins away) is a picturesque village with an amazing ruined castle, and there are many more incredible atmospheric mediaeval villages a short car ride away up into the Alps. The Italian towns on the coast are great places to spend the day and go for an evening passegiata! Nothing too flash! Whereas over the border into France (only 25 mins away) you have the ritzy riviera with Monaco, Eze and Nice.

Maria and Peppe live in their wonderful converted mill below, and are delightful - warm and welcoming people who are well travelled themselves and interesting company.
