LOCATION: About 40 to 45 minutes away from the port by private transportation. Nestled between mountains, with a beach and stunning view of the sea and nearby islands in front. A really nice place to unwind!

ROOM: We took the family wood cabin. It has one bedroom with a queen size bed. The living area has a three seater sofa, and two (2) single beds. It also has a bathroom with hot and cold showers. The room does not look very clean and we had the feeling that the bed sheets were not "fresh" or newly replaced. There is no telephone nor intercom available at the room so you have to go to the front office (a good 5 to 10 minutes hike) if you need something. The "room service station", where "cleaning ladies" assigned to certain wood cabins were supposed to stay, were closed at the time we were there. The cabin, inside and out, obviously was not well maintained. We had to call the attention of the front office when no electricity was provided in our cabin, and the electrician had to fix the main switch outside our cabin. The lock in the bathroom was not working. Worst, I was even stuck inside the bathroom due to the defective lock although I did not even lock the door when I closed it. For the amount of money that we paid for our wood cabin, we somehow expected theses things. Hahaha!

BEACH: They have a nice beach. It has "white" sand. Unfortunately, at the time we arrived, the water was a little bit "muddy" due to rains, strong winds, and big waves. Fortunately, we were able to enjoy the beach the following day, when the weather became better. We went island hopping so we were able to enjoy the beach at Matukad Island, as well as the beach at Hunungan Cove (right beside Gotal Village and was also being managed by it). The villas at Hunungan cove are all concrete and some are located along the beach.

FOOD: Food is okay. Price is reasonable considering that the ingredients and provisions come all the way from Naga City which is about 4 to 5 hours away (by land, sea and land transfers). It will be much better if Gota Village will just source their provisions from local farmers.

SERVICES: Needs a lot of training and improvement in customer service. No official receipt was issued for the payment of our food and accommodation, although my wife repeatedly asked for it. We were likewise left behind by the last boat going back due to the incompetence of the staff. We had to shell out a lot more in hiring a small boat to bring us back to Sabang port.

We have booked 10 nights at Hunongan Cove during our Honeymoon and paid a 50% deposit. Some days before our trip to the Philippines they canceled our stay due to some problems at the resort. And since three weeks nobody redunds our payment and send us any response. Is that the way you treat your guests?! Thank you for spoiling our Honeymoon!

PROS
- Immediate response upon inquiry
- Nice view from the beach
- Rooms are decent and clean
- Island tour was pretty good. It was too bad we were there during the rainy season so we didn't get to see all islands.

CONS
- The transportation from the pier is a little worn-down. It was a 90s L300 with crappy seats.
- Food is nothing great too.
- Be prepared to take a long boat ride with the locals. This is not your typical boat ride in Boracay or Bohol. So be prepared to "rough it out."

We were picked up from the port by a battered van which did not make for a good first impression. The view of ricefields along the way was nice. The location itself is excellent nestled between limestone cliffs and trees. The place was very green, peaceful and quiet at night.

For me, the per night rate of the cabana was cheap considering the good location. The cabanas would have been excellent but they are showing signs of disrepair, molds are growing in places especially inside the bathroom. I loved the fact that they were made of wood and smelled of pine. Hot shower was strong and really hot! We had to ask for soaps and shampoos.

Food was pricey considering the recipes were nothing remarkable (just the usual home pinoy recipes), and since there were no other eating places around (the barangay outside the resort is a good 5-10 minutes walk) we had no option but eat in the restaurant. Although the waiter said each order was good for 1 person, we found out that the serving is big enough for two (we're not big eaters), so we managed to save a bit sharing one meal + extra rice. To their credit, the cooking was tasty. We also managed to buy bread outside the resort.

The private beach was ok, rocky in places but shallow and nice to swim in. The waves could get very strong. I was saddened to see a lot of trash washed ashore, although they did clean them up in the mornings. It seemed to me a serious problem around Caramoan beaches, the neighboring Hunongan cove had more trash.

The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. Their island-hopping tour was excellent.

All in all, it was a good place to stay in and would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

It is a bit of a trip to get to, but the beaches were deserted, the staff was your typical friendly Filipino provincial folk, and it was amazingly cheap. I spent 11 thousand pesos (275 dollars) to cover 2 nights and 3 nights in a private cabin with food, a day of boating and a day of hiking with a private guide included.

You may not enjoy it if you want western food or a beach party type of resort, but if you want a nice quiet beach and a local gem with Bicol type foods, this is a winner. Also, the main lodge has wifi and the rooms have cable and movie channels, and the boat guide will drop you off on a tiny deserted island (for free) for a romantic day of private beach bathing.

I almost gave it five stars due to the fond memory, but this is a solid 4 star local experience.

The resort is nice. Nice little cabins with good sleeping accommodations. Stayed with my fiance and her son and it was good they had a small bed in another room for her son to sleep on. The beach was nice, and food was ok, and as always in the Philippines, the staff were friendly and attentive. The biggest problem was the long bus ride, and the two hour boat trip. There are places that take less time that are just as nice and the beaches are actually better. And as an FYI, when someone from the Philippines says a white sandy beach, they mean some sand and the rest is rocks, so be prepared...lol..
