This was our second visit to the Maldives-our first in the Westin. We chose it after extensive research; it’s a new resort and everyone who stayed left amazing reviews. And honestly they were right on the mark. The Westin offers all the high standard comforts one would expect in such a resort. But it also goes one step further due to the superb staff. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful and we really enjoyed getting to know so many of the staff which made the experience feel all the more personal and worthwhile.

We stayed for four nights in an above water villa with a private pool (villa 146). The villa was on the sunrise side of the island and being the last one in the row of villas, we enjoyed the extra privacy and panoramic view. The room was extremely spacious, very modern but with a warm homey feel, and impeccably clean. We really enjoyed the glass floor which allowed a look at the fish during both night and day. The pool was rather shallow and small but nevertheless extremely enjoyable. Our personal butler Mr. Mawsool was available at all times and was very friendly.

We borrowed snorkeling gear though we weren’t able to snorkel in the water around our villa due to choppy waters on our side of the island. But we did go for a snorkeling trip to Hanifaru bay where we saw some reef mantas up close. We also had a great scuba diving experience in the resort’s house reef.

All our dining experiences were great and we especially appreciated the Maldivian dishes which were incorporated in the menus but our best experience was at the Pearl (the Japanese restaurant).

Our favorite dishes in the breakfast buffet at the Island Kitchen were the Mashuni tuna, the dhal and various curries (tuna, potato and chicken). Special thanks to Mr. Amir, Mr. Ali and Mr. Nafees for their kindness and great conversation and Chef Min for always stopping by to chat and ask for special requests. We drank masala tea made specially for us every morning. Ms. Joy and Ms. Irish also made our stay special with their kindness. Overall we felt well and truly pampered.

At the Pearl we recommend the black cod, the tempura mix and the sushi, nigiri and sashimi platter. It was all so fresh and delicious. But the best part was the matcha lava cake served with white molten chocolate and vanilla ice cream. It was so good we had it two days in a row.
Another highlight was the black angus steak fillet at the Island Kitchen. Super good.

The most special thanks go to Mr. Ashfaq for his assistance throughout our stay but mostly for his advice, stories and good cheer. Running into him was always one of the highlights of our day and we are truly thankful to him and all the staff for making this a truly unforgettable experience. God bless.

My wife and my soon-to-be 2 year old son recently stayed at this property from September 1 - 6 and by far this is the best resort we've ever stayed at. From first arriving in Male to departing the property, we were treated like family. Atta, if I remember his name correctly, met us when we landed in Male, grabbed our bags, helped us check in our bags on the seaplane, and escorted us to the Westin lounge while we waited for our seaplane. Now, he could have left us alone since his job was basically done. However, he kept us company, gave us recommendations, and played a couple hours playing with our son in the lounge. Yes, a couple hours seemed long, but our original flight we had to stop at 2 other resorts before the Westin. With my wife being pregnant and with the seaplane being extremely hot during take off and landing, and not to mention it would have taken a lot longer being the third stop, he was able to get us a direct flight to the Westin! So thank you Atta for your great hospitality and babysitting skills!

When we got to the resort, we were met with our Thakuru, Hanim, and a lot of other staff members. Again, we felt like family when we first step foot on the property. Hanim, gave us a tour around the resort in the buggy and dropped us off at our sunset overwater bungalo, room 109! Please request this side of the island.... the view of the sunset is breathtaking! I can't say enough about how spacious and beautiful the room was. It's over 2000sqft, had a pool, glass floor in the living room, ladder down to the beautiful ocean for you to snorkel every day, large comfortable bed, clean standalone tub, and, best of all, TOTO automatic toilets :). Best room ever to sum this up!

The food was also great from their 3 restaurants. Our favorite was the Hawker because the chef made the best Pad Thai we've ever had. The Island Kitchen had a lot of food and opened basically from breakfast to late night, but we really only enjoyed it for breakfast. The Pearl had the best sunset view and great fresh sushi. It's a little pricey but worth it for a night or two out. They also had a 3 course kaiseki tasting menu, I believe it was $150, but we were always full so we didn't feel like we would finish 3 courses. But overall, the prices and quality was better than we expected.

Since we had our toddler with us, we stopped by the family center a few times to let him play. The attendant there was great (I apologize for not remembering her name)! She taught him colors/numbers, danced with him, built things with him, draw and played with him, and even babysat him a few times when we needed a break from him :). Our son sure misses her

We had no bad experiences with this property and the staff made sure we were always taken cared of throughout our stay. This was by far the best property we've stayed at and the best group of staff we've ever had. Sure the Maldives have hundreds of properties to stay at but we have already discussed going back to the Westin in the near future. Again, thank you Atta and Hanim and everyone at Westin for making our stay the best we've ever experienced in our lives.

Room tip: Sunset side rooms are the best!

Every holiday is made special with the establishment personnel. My hat goes out the following staff members of the Westin Maldives.
Hanim my butler who was razor sharp with every request and service par excellence
Amee (the food and beverage Manager), Joy and Nafees who went the extra mile to ensure that our diet requirements are met.

We are well traveled in the Maldives, but on this occasion we travelled with our 17 week old baby for a short stay [risky]

Our arrival was exceptional, from this point forward, ur Butler explained the entire resort by buggy, slowly, carefully and he was extremely engaging keeping our attention.

Additionally, I have never had such a clear and comfortable In-Villa show around, our Butler [we have difficulties recalling his name] did an exceptional job and then asked if he could have some of our time of which we replied "of course" and he went on to explain their complimentary global membership, and this is where the Theatre started . . . we are now International members of BonVoy and proud are we!!

Thereafter only to find that both our anniversary and the arrival of our first born child was recognised from both their kids club and management. Not to mention Champagne with enough ice to deliver the first pour at perfect temperature to the very last drop!

Essentially, it was so nice to find a resort so beautifully built, that had a story behind every thought, exceptional gardens that balanced between manicured and natural Island forest, giving us a feeling 'we have arrived to a superb resort' . . . . from arrival to departure guest recognition is paramount and the team delivered this so naturally.

Your every need is attended to, service is there when you need it and your privacy, [the all important 'us-time'] is recognised and balanced beautifully.

Although we viewed every restaurant/outlet and enjoyed on a previous visit which exceeded our expectations on every level, on this occasion we took each meal in our beautiful villa. You'd never know . . exceptional, the food and wine, perfectly cooked, delivered at temperature as if we were dining at our own private restaurant.

To be fair, the top 20 resorts of the Maldives, you will always get a great stay, they'll just be different/unique to them making it hard to make a decision. However with this said, the Westin Maldives service standards delivers, North, South, East and West, where you can just feel that management and line staff are all working together delivering time after time . . . its only a year or so old, and already it feels like home, established by seasoned professionals with every need taken care of without exception

Informed, efficient and friendly service beginning to end of the highest order, is to put this resort simply all on a beautiful Maldivian Island . . . Thank you Westin Maldives for a wonderful stay, see you again soon

Our son Alex loves his bath duck as much as we love the memory

Warmest regards
Marc, Vi & Alex

The staff were all friendly and the butler just made the best arrangement which let me and my family feel comfortable during our stay, and the food there were delicious especially the resturant called "The Pearl" which provided Japanese food really charmed me. As for the villa, it was not only wide but also well-maintained and quite new and the infinty pool, I must to say, it was such large that contained all our swimming rings and stuff. What really excited me was that sea turtle, even sting rays swim by our villa when I enjoyed sunbath at the deck and almost everyday a school of dolphins appeared in the farther ocean. Finally, the services was all the best, from we arrived at male airport to our depature, the staff accompanied us and helped to dealt with some procedures that made me feel comfortable. Anyway, it was just an unforgettable vacation and worth visiting again!
