“Good food, most times”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

My husband, friends and I have come here quite a few times (want to say at least 4-5). We usually have a good experience, but we like to relax over drinks before dinner and leisurely order..some might realize a longer wait than we do because of that fact. Of the times we've gone, I'd say at least 3-4 experiences were fine, regarding service and food. Went tonight and customer service very good, food a little spotty. They sat us right next to the piano and we asked to be seated further away and they totally accomodated us (really good move).

Entrees pretty good; rib eyes the guys liked but I thought over salted, came out as requested, medium rare. Girls got sea bass - a little different with the skin on, not sure I've had it that way before? OK though, nothing extraordinary.

Sides: Asparagus - everyone loved it. Vegetable side way too salty (am I just not used to salt???l)

Wine: ordered what was suggested, Weins Obscura ($45), for that price, expected a real cork from the bottle, not a pre-fab one. Wine not bad though...

Wait staff: Very good this night. Very attentive even though seemed sort of busy.

So, long story short, went there 2-3 times before this time, very good experience over all, but went last New Year's Eve...that was not a good time. Went for late seating and seemed like only 10 people in the place and waited forever for anything. Food was sub-par and dessert sampler was 4 out of 5 not very good (we had 5 samples). Felt like we were given the leftovers :(

Honestly, it is an infrequent visit for us but we enjoy the ambience of the place and feel relaxed when we go there, and it is close for us. The food is pretty good, although you feel like you can never get a home run in all areas for the price :).

“Step back in time”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

Just recently discovered this restaurant located in Cherry Valley, CA.. It is an "old timey" resort.
Restaurant opened to the public three years ago. Pleasant decor, good music and beautiful view.
Pricey, but very good fancy food. Most veggies grown on site and delicious homemade breads.
Special occasions go to place.
Check out their site.

“Rustic decor, off the beaten path location”
Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

We came here for Sunday brunch. We had the strawberry-rhubarb stuffed french toast (excellent), the farm potatoes (way too salty, but great texture), the scrambled eggs with toast (good), the german pancake (cakey, gummy texture), and coffee (good). The lavender syrup that they served with the french toast and german pancake was good, but way too strong of a non-complimentary flavor for these dishes. But considering that the resort is located in the midst of a lavender farm!

The reservations process was easy. We were seated promptly. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. The food was freshly made - just a bit 'hit and miss'.

It is fun to try out restaurants, but I'm not sure for how out of the way this one is and for the price, that we'll be back. It was not bad, just not overwhelmingly stellar.

“not worth the trip”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

based on ratings and their internet presence made the trip from Laguna Brach. Sorry to say it is not worth it. Came for lunch. Wine glasses full of spots and lips. They poured my Justin in a new glas. The bar area showed two big hooks, where a picture used to be. On both sides there are two small TV from the seventies. One does not know if they are for decoration or serve a purpose. The padta dish was extremely basic, thr french fries greasy. The Justin cab was the best we had. Their website is misleading. This place has no special atmosphere nor is the food anything special. The service was friendly but untrained. Sorry , won't return.

“Great food, service and location”
Reviewed March 19, 2012

The menu is very nice, ranging from steaks and lamb, fish and even a burger. The food is top notch, the sides are not an afterthought, but are always well prepared. The staff here is excellent, and I always feel like I'm well taken care of. The location is unique, in the middle of a lavender farm. It's a little hard to find, but worth the journey. In my opinion, it's the best restaurant in the IE.
