“A great and friendly place to stay in South Lake Tahoe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2014

We've stayed at this location many times. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the room and kept in very good condition and clean. They have both an outdoor pool and hot tub. The hot tub is open all year round. The location is only a few blocks from a main shopping area and the Nevada Casinos. It is also close to several ski runs, some of which have complimentary shuttles.

Room Tip: This is a timeshare that also rents units. They have 1 and 2 bedroom units on site.

We stayed in a one bedroom condo on the first floor. The bedroom, kitchen and lounge were generously sized, we were close to the pool and bbqs and to the car parked in the rear. The bus to the ski lifts and to the shopping strip stops every 10-15 minutes outside the door of this small resort. The bus system is superb as it travels from one end of Heavenly in California all the way to the Heavenly side, and past supermarkets, casinos, shops etc. The Lodge is pretty close to everything. It was great value for money in my view as well.

Room Tip: all the rooms are well away from the main road, Pioneer Rd, and the walls are thick. It's very q...

The Lodge is situated in a fantastic location right up the street from the main part of town. We stayed in a one bedroom unit that was spacious and clean but the decor was very outdated. The Wi-Fi was problematic and the TV was retro. The kitchen was well stocked with good appliances and the bathroom had better than average toiletries. Overall an okay stay but happy that it wasn't an extended one.

Spent two very happy & comfortable weeks at The Lodge. We shared a two bedroom unit with friends and found there was plenty of room for the four of us. Decor was pleasant; bedding & furniture comfortable; staff were friendly & helpful; close to town; and with bus stops right outside to take you on the free bus to the Gondola or California Lodge - not that you couldn't walk to the former if you felt active. There are fancier places around, but for good accommodation at a reasonable price I reckon you'd be hard pressed to beat The Lodge - we've booked to come back next year. I only have one minor gripe, which is common to many American units - why isn't there a kettle to make a cup of tea???

Thank you for staying with us at The Lodge at Lake Tahoe. We are so glad you will be returning. I appreciate your suggestions about our kitchen inventory and when you return next year I will make sure you have a kettle for hot water so you can enjoy your tea. See you next year.

We had the 1 bedroom room and the decor was great. The couch was horrible to sit on, but the 2 chairs were great. Because there was 4 of us, 2 had to sleep on the pullout couch... NOT RECCOMENDED! it was HORRIBLE! but location was great! Walking distance to alot. and just out of town so it was quiet. if we go back again we will be getting a 2 bedroom so no one has to sleep on the pullout.

Room Tip: Definately the 2nd floor, but NO elevators, so if stairs are an issue then go wioth 1st floor and ho...

We have stayed at this property several times in the past 20 years. Updates to decor and amenities continue every year. This is a timeshare property that also rents to travelers. We stayed in a 1-bedroom unit and had the basics, mini fridge, electric stove/oven, microwave, blender, toaster, cooking utensils and coffee maker. The only thing I bring to use in the kitchen is an electric skillet to make pancakes. I don't trust myself to use a frying pan on the stove! :) Television, DVD/Video player is in the living room. Another TV in the bedroom. This unit is designed for no more than 4 people and as such, there are only 4 plates, and silverware settings as well as towels.
Close to casinos, and the lake. The Heavenly Gondola is within easy walking distance. The location of this property is on a quiet street. I've visited this location at various times during the year (winter, spring, summer and fall) and have NEVER had an issue with loud noises! This is my go-to place to relax and unwind, away from the city.
I highly recommend this property for those wishing to visit South Lake Tahoe.

Room Tip: I've never been in a bad room in the 20+ years that I have been visiting this property.

Went to South Lake Tahoe for the 1st week of August, where we stood at the Lodge at the Lake Tahoe. I want to say this was our first time for my husband two kids and me staying on the South and was not very happy. However, let me start by reviewing the Lodge itself…was not impressing.
PROS: Pool and surrounding areas cleaned daily. The room was clean with dishes and utensils to cook a meal.
CONS: I expected a resort because that is what I thought RCI was advertising. However, it was an upgrade from a motel status. Be warned there is no AIR CONDITIONER and it was very HOT during our stay in August, they only provided one fan. The bed was nice and firm but the pillows were like rocks. I suggested to management to invest on trash cans that keep wild animals out, because every night a family of raccoons would visit and rummage through the plastic containers which were 3 feet away from our upstairs room. I would have loved to leave the window open for some breeze but was afraid that the raccoons would rip through the screen to get to our food.
The Lodge is located on a strip where there are rundown apartments and cheap motels so you have to be aware of your surroundings. However, once you crossover the Nevada border you can see the difference.

Room Tip: Call the hotel & ask questions.
