“Degustation Menu to die for !!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

We had the most amazing experience on Friday night. We arrived at Mangapapa and were greeted and shown to our room. We relaxed and then had a couple of drinks at the bar , followed by a spa. We tried for the first time the 9 course Degustation Menu with matching wines/drinks. The food was simply the best we have ever had (thanks Chef Michael) and was matched perfectly with wines, port etc The service was exceptional and we cant wait to go back with friends. We loved our room and it was a bonus to be able to stay at this delightful hotel. Thumbs up to Catherine Hobbs -Turner and her team, we loved every minute. Thank you! We will be back.

Room Tip: Im sure every room is just as good as the one we had. It was tastefully decorated , spacious and com...

Stayed 2 nights in the Mangapapa suite withe wife and daughter. Place was wonderful, breakfast a treat (didn't dine there). Staff were the most friendly and helpful people we have encountered. A great headquarters for exploring the Bay.

Room Tip: We had the Mangapapa suite which is large, exceptionally well air-conditioned with a modern contempo...

My husband and I stayed here over Easter and had a lovely weekend. We were lucky to get a special deal and were given "the honeymoon suite". The first night we had the 6 course degustation dinner with matching wines and the food was fantastic. The break fast was also very good. It is close to havelock north a very nice town with some great shops. You need a car to get around if staying here.

50 acres of gorgeous orchards abundant with fruit which guests may pick from the trees! Our room Cambridge suite was fabulous with lovely amenities, towels etc as you would expect at this price range. Very professional welcome from Tara. There is a pool and spa gym, small but functional. Fab place for stylish intimate wedding. We opted for the 6 course dinner and it was spectacular and the service impeccable.
The bad news is that we had no idea what food we would be served and 4 of the 6 courses were fish incl oysters so do ask up front in case of allergy etc.. It was actually mentioned on our check in form but people need to be specific.
Breakfast was a little let down too. Limited options, quite unusual. I would like to have seen eggs Benedict and more fresh fruit...I brought an apple from the orchard the second morning!
Overall a lovely experience.
We were here mid week and it was very quiet .

A great hotel, really good service and great food. The rooms were great and the gardens were too, even bikes were provided free of charge. The local area is worth exploring as is Hastings and Havelock.

We held my son's wedding at Mangapapa Petit Hotel on 5 Januray 2012. The grounds made the ideal setting for an outdoor wedding. The wedding party and parents of the bride and groom were booked into the luxurious rooms - we had the venue to ourselves. The bride was able to prepare herself - hair, makeup etc- in the spa while the groomsmen left the site.

Guests arrived via the tree lined drive and mingled in the shade of mature trees while waiting the arrival of the bride. An aisle had been created with topiary trees in pots leading to an archway under a large tree. The tables were laid under another large tree on the opposite side. The place looked stunning.

The hotel staff were friendly and professional and carried out their duties unobstrusively and efficiently. They were truly tested when one of the wedding guests collapsed and had to be hospitalised. However they responded admirably ushering guests to another area of the grounds out of sight of the victim while he was being cared for. The incident was managed professionally and compassionately. Thanks to their efforts it did not detract too much from the occasion.

The food was outstanding and given the delay caused by the unfortunate incident above it arrived cooked to perfection. All guests commented at some time how great the food was.

The evening disappeared quickly - the young danced on while some of us older ones retreated in doors to the bar overlooking the venue. The rooms were luxurious and the welcome beds were very comfortable. A cooked breakfast the next day overlooking the wedding site capped off a fantastic event.

We would highly recommend Managapapa Petit Hotel as an ideal venue for a wedding, a place to escape the hum drum of life and treat to tranqulity, a place to stay where you are unobstusively pampered.

Room Tip: Expess your needs and desires - they will accommodate
