When you are caught in one of the worst storms in New Zealand history, what do you do?

Stay indoors! Well, we did just that!

Arataki is a great place for young children about the buzzing bees.

The free sampling of honey is a bonus. Manuka seems to be their favourite.

Good thing that we stocked up quite a few jars here as the prices are definitely cheaper than Auckland.

It was a visit that lasted nearly two hours, and by then, the storm has passed too!

A great place to visit and buy New Zealand honey to bring home. Informative displays tell you all about honey production. The best thing is the sampling....over half a dozen different kinds! Other products are also available....lanolin creams and souvenirs. Well worth the stop.

The Arataki is both a great visitor attraction and activity centre for the family. Yummy honey tasting bar, great shop and very friendly, informative staff.

Lots of 'hands on' activities for the younger kids to do. Very educational in a fun way for them. They loved seeing all the bees at work.

Lovely products. Hope there will be no issues with the bee venom and propololis products as we re enter Sydney. Will keep you posted on this. Lovely fragrant soaps and room fresheners too. A great place to visit
