Diana does a very nice job, offering a large and comfortable room that is very close to the vineyards in the Gimblett Gravel appellation, where they seem to have the darkest and most intense reds. I would describe the suite as comfortable and spacious for two people, with a small settee and a fireplace that we very much enjoyed. There were a few small differences between the website and our experience, but that could be because we were there in the winter. Diana herself is very out-going and personable, and I very much liked her specialty breakfast of poached eggs and ham.

Thanks for posting a review; it was great to meet you both and so pleased you enjoyed the wineries here in Hawke's Bay. As you mention we are close to one of the best red wine regions in the world - The Gimlet Gravels
Thanks for the positive feedback about the 'poached eggs' - they are a favourite.
Enjoy the rest of your stay in NZ
Kind Regards
Diana & Jeff

My husband and I have just returned from a month of travel in New Zealand. One of very nicest B & B's that we visited was Havelock House. Diana and Jeff roll out the red carpet for their guests. Sigh...The house is beautiful and gardens are amazing. We enjoyed the suite.
Wow! Our fireplace was ready for a fire and we really enjoyed that on our rainy day. The bath was amazing with huge soaking tub, plus shower.
Diana put on quite a fantastic breakfast with everything you could imagine. I understand why this place is rated number one. It is! Thanks for everything Diana!!

We recently had an 8 week trip to NZ staying at a mixture of motels,B&B's and hotels and our three nights at Havelock House were without doubt the best $ for $ value stay in the country. The house is situated in a quiet rural location, the room a facilities were perfect and the breakfasts were all you could want. Diana and Jeff were both welcoming and helpful and enabled us to make the most of our stay in the area.

We stayed at the Havelock House B&B for 5 nights. It was very comfortable, clean, quiet, and convenient to the all the local sites, especially the nice town of Havelock North. Diana and Geoff are gracious hosts who work hard at maintaining the large house and grounds. We rented the Havelock Suite which was very spacious with a large clean bathroom and sitting area. The guest rooms are located in a quiet separate wing of the house. An excellent breakfast is prepared and served by Diana daily in a bright, cheerful breakfast room. Breakfast includes eggs, bacon, toast, fresh seasonal fruits (some from their own trees), and a variety of cereals. Diana’s excellent poached eggs and homemade marmalade are especially noteworthy. We really enjoyed meeting and chatting with the other guests over breakfast.
A small refrigerator, dishes, and microwave are available in the common area for guests’ use and work nicely for small “take away” meals. There is also excellent, unlimited, free wireless internet available, which was not the case everywhere we stayed.
While there is no laundry facility for guests to use, Diana kindly offered to wash up a few of our things with their daily laundry and peg them out to dry. However, because we had several loads of laundry due to our extended trip and because rain made outside drying problematic, we made other arrangements.
Overall, we highly recommend staying at the Havelock House for a comfortable visit to this beautiful area. Diana and Geoff were most helpful in providing recommendations for local interesting and off-the-beaten path places to visit, current local events, and the best places to dine. All suggestions were much appreciated and made for a wonderful visit.

Room Tip: The Havelock Suite is the largest of the 3 rooms and worth the additional cost if available.

We were absolutely thrilled with this B & B. It was Art Deco Weekend and we could not find accommodation in Napier - so we stayed here instead. We were glad we did - Diana and Geoff were so hospitable and helpful and the Havelock House was like home from home. If we go back to New Zealand we will certainly stay there again - Havelock North is a lovely area and plenty to do close by.

Sick of staying in motels 4 golfers decided to try the B&B experience.....and what a treat it was staying at Havelock House with Diana and Jeff. Confortable beds with en-suites with lots of room to relax after our game. The facilities were first class with the location very handy to the Hastings Golf Club at Bridge Pa and the Havelock North Village. The best was yet to come as we enjoyed a hearty breakfast (including home cooked muffins) before we ventured off to "conquer the beast" Cape Kidnappers. This was and experience we all wish to repeat in the not to distant future. Thanks Diana and Jeff for a great stay. The boys from Wanganui.
