This was such a great find! It is definitely worth the money to be so close to a yummy cafe and cheese tasting shop, stellar vineyards for wine tasting, and be able to have a gorgeous place to call your home for a few days! There are great walking/biking/running paths near by. The cottage is clean, up-to-date appliances, and even has a heated bathroom floor! Mike was very communicative and helpful. There was even fresh eggs from their chickens, bread, and a bottle of wine from the organic vineyard waiting for us. We just wished we had more time in Hawkes Bay :) A good restaurant recommendation: Maina. Local, fresh, out of this world delicious!
The cottage was just what we were hoping for. It is comfortable, well appointed and set in a beautiful location. If it had been just bit warmer, we would have spent all day on the deck.
The Chalk & Cheese Cafe is conveniently right across the street and yet, you feel like you are in your own secluded space.
We will definitely be back!
My husband and I stayed at Tuki Vineyard Cottage for my 40th birthday weekend in December 2016 (part of a wider 3 week trip to NZ). The cottage itself is in an idyllic location, facing the vineyard and surrounded by stunning countryside. The accommodation is modern, well maintained (comfortable bed and crisp clean bed linen) and is also very well equipped for self catering. The exceptional hospitality shown by the owners Mike and Jo was very welcome; on arrival we were provided with a complimentary bottle of Tuki Vineyard wine, a great selection of breakfast supplies (including free range eggs delivered by the friendly Tuki hens) and an excellent information pack on the local amenities.
The property is perfectly placed to explore this beautiful area of Hawkes Bay being very close to some of the major wineries in the region such as Craggy Range, Te Mata and Church Road (we very much enjoyed visiting the cellar doors while there). There are also some fantastic restaurants close by at Black Barn Vineyard, Craggy Range and Porters Hotel (Malo). With some great beaches in the vicinity (Ocean Beach less than a 30min drive) and stunning views from the Te Mata peak there is lots to see and do. On the recommendation of Jo we also visited the farmers market in Hastings which was a great option for lunch when we left on Sunday.
Tuki Vineyard Cottage is a perfect retreat for a couple to escape to.....our only regret was that we did not have some more time to spend there.
