Went in February 2011. Royal Decameron resort is safe, clean and huge. Many visitors from South America, we felt really in vacation. Food in buffet is mainly adapted to South and Central Americans and this is perfect!.

Be careful at the Royal Decameron private beach as waves are ideal for surfing!

We had our best and affordable excursions ever. Our first excursion was to visit 3 villages with a swim to the thermal/geyser resort. Another excursion was to visit for a full day a few volcanoes, coffee plantations and fabulous landscapes. Best sunsets I ever seen!

Room Tip: Ask a view on the Pacific.

Went here after a trip to Varedaro Cuba, and all i could say was WOW!! about everything. It was even much cheaper than my last vacation in Cuba.
These people really appreciate you being there. It is clean, friendly, and beautiful grounds,a paradise.
Nothing bad to say, this is the way a resort should be run!
The absolute only downside is the ocean, and beach, but there is so many pools, and the salt water pool,it makes you forget fast about the negative aspect of the beach!

Room Tip: Ground floor walking out to a ground level patio is best if you are older.the halls are very long,an...

This is a nice place but I wouldn't call it 1st rate. After 30 minutes of check-in going from one lobby to another just to have our key exchanged for no reason at all, we got a room in the 3rd floor in building 3 where there is no elevator, we had to carry our luggage for 3 stories, it was a big disappointment. The room was clean and simple. The bathroom window is right next to the entrance door feels like there is no privacy and you can hear people walking by right next to you - literally. The food needs major improvement, it is low quality and tastes like it too (the food was salty, meat felt like rubber, old hot dogs). While in the pool area, we kept getting interrupted by sales representatives for the time share with a bogus story about getting credit for school, my husband trying to help the sales rep agreed to go, In the conference the lady was pushy, insisted on me and my husband taking off our sunglasses until we politely refused. This was a big turn off since we were trying to relax and instead we were dealing with a pushy sales person. Did I mention the rubber band that guests have to wear while in Decameron? and the one token per person for towels in the pool? if you loose the token you pay $20.
The Place is beautiful but needs major overhaul from check-in guests to the food service.
With the exception of the lady at the sales conference, the employees were courteous and friendly.

There are so many reasons why this was awful:
1) check in we waited for 1 hour between the line of traffic stopped by armed police to sitting and waiting for our name to be called
2) our room smelled like a public restroom
3) the buffet style cafeteria food doesn't meet any human standards
4) pools were big but closed at 7pm so when you have kids excited to swim they were heart broken when we said no they are closed
5) we got bikes to rent but you couldn't ride on any of the many paths to different buildings you could only stay on the main street what was the point to help kids avoiding to have to walk so much when we couldn't get to different places around resort
6) the unlimited drinks for adults were a 4oz cup with cheap alcohol and watered down and had to wait in long lines for worthless beverages
7) the staff was rude and very unfriendly
8) 1 towel per person for pool/beach and you better return it and get your ticket back prior to checkout or take wet towels to desk to nasty checkout staff
9) beach there is sand with barely any water to swim in
10) THIS PLACE IS LIKE JAIL! WE WILL NEVER WASTE OUR MONEY OR TIME AGAIN!!!!!

Room Tip: There isn't one....

We went to celebrate our anniversary and had a great time! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The second property beach-house is also great. The choice of a la carte restaurants was great so you could get have some variety each day. We are hopeful to return again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms further from the center of the resort will be quieter.

We went to Decameron for a weekend and what a surprise. Our kids are 12 years old and 8 years old. First, the hotel is really spread out so to walk anywhere, it seems like you must walk miles to get anywhere. Second, it looked like the many of the guests were out of a prison break movie (I´m not kidding). We did not feel safe at all. Third, we noticed there were lineups for most meals and the food was basic cafeteria food with watered down drinks. Fourth, at our arrival the main gate tried to block our entry and charge us $80 U.S. extra for being there 90 minutes early. Fifth, starting early every morning, a large majority of the guests were heavily intoxicated and somewhat bothersome with aggressive stares. (back to Prison Break again). Finally, if you have a decent and honorable family and want a relaxing safe vacation, Decameron is not for you. If you just got out of jail, or are an inspiring low level gang member, I´ve got just the spot for you, Decameron Salinitas El Salvador!!!

This resort was beautiful in terms of the grounds, beach, and pool areas. The pools were the best feature, with many places to sit and relax, different pools to choose from, and close to all restaurants. Many activities for children and adults, as well as quiet locations away from the activities. Make sure you visit each pool area. Restaurants were excellent, but food needs to be improved. Hard to find basic staples on a daily basis (e.g., pasta only served on certain days of the week). Much of the food is spanish and cultural, which is hard to feed picky eaters. More variety would be good. Booked restaurants were excellent. Fun activities in the evenings for kids (e.g., casino night) and the staff was all very friendly, although very few spoke ANY English. This turned out to be quite fun for our children though as they had to learn some spanish. Rooms were neat and clean and quite big. Book a room in buildings 1 or 2 if you want wi-fi though, its not available in other buildings. Weather was absolutely spectacular in March - make sure you apply lots of sunscreen repeatedly, even for those who do not usually burn. Day trip to the natural cascades and zip lining is highly recommended. Zip lining excellent for first timers or young children because the lines start very easy. The only draw back to this resort is the long bus ride from the airport, although it was great scenary. Would highly recommend this place and El Salvador felt very safe and comfortable.

Room Tip: Choose a room in building 1 or 2 for free wi-fi in your rooms.
