We made four 10-day trips around Turkey in the past year, and Hotel Hantur (in lovely Kizkalesi) was the most relaxing place we stayed. The Hotel is right on the beach, directly across from the Maiden's Castle. Our room, 101, had large windows and a private balcony facing the great castle view. With the sea breeze blowing through the sheer curtains, we were tempted to spend our four-day stay dozing in this sweet hotel. The town itself is laid back, much less aggressive to tourists than other places we've visited on the Mediterranean. It feels like the majority of folks coming here are Turkish. The warm owner speaks Turkish and German, with enough English (in person) to easily communicate. By email, writing in English can be a little tricky, but it wasn't a big deal, and certainly well worth any effort. This place is so great, and so cheap, we started calculating the monthly price. Lot and lots of stuff to see in the area, especially if you have a car. Driving is easy around here. We saw three very different caves (Heaven, Hell and the beautiful Asthma Cave.) Also took a drive through mountain villages and saw many ruins (Adamkayalar, Uzuncaburc, fantastic Olba) The hotel owner recommended seeing Kalidivane, just down the road (toward Mersin & Adana) and it is a wonderfully intact ruined city that is easy to explore. Down the road the other way, and very close, are the great fish restaurants of Narlikuyu. We had a very memorable feast at Kerim. There are also great casual places in town, with the best kebap places close to the main road, and the some better views but less delicious meals at places right on the sea. Music does come from either side of the Hotel at night, but Hotel Hantur itself is quiet, and we didn't find the neighboring music to be disturbing. We loved swimming out to the Maiden's Castle and snorkeling around it. Snorkeling was even better around the adjacent Korykos Castle. All these activities were made easy by the Hotel's prime location. The Hotel beach chairs and umbrellas were set up early each morning on the sandy beach (a welcome change from all the pebble beaches.) Rooms are cleaned every other day, and then the cleaning is perfect with all the linens changed. The room felt very private. The bed was very comfortable. The bath didn't have a separate shower stall, but it did have a lowered shower floor so that the water didn't go everywhere, and the room was large enough to make this arrangement comfortable. There are extra chairs in the room and on the balcony, and a small writing desk. Air conditioning worked very well. We LOVED Hotel Hantur. Wish we were there right now.
