“Great Staff, Great Dogs, Great TIME!”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

We had a blast on our half day dog sledding. It was easy. Sure sometimes you fall but it was really nothing that could hurt anyone. The guides were there to help when needed. Meeting the dogs was a lot of fun. We enjoyed the staff they were all very helpful and I would recommend this to anyone.
The half day was plenty for us. I'm not sure I would enjoy doing it all day.

“Love the Dogs, and all the Staff too !!!”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

For my wife's 60th Birthday, I decided treat her to a full day sled tour. We traversed the trails with our Guide Jeff, had a wonderful lunch, and then back onto the trails again for the afternoon We loved it, you couldn't wipe the smile off my wife (or my) face !. We opted to stay in the lodge also, and opted to the "Taste of the Yukon" featuring Arctic Char, Bison, Elk, Buffalo. Kevin did a great job in preparing, and we were so stuffed, could not enjoy the dessert provided.
Staying in the lodge, you get to meet the owners Frank & Anne. Frank has many a tale of the 24 times he entered the 1,000 Mile Yukon DogSled Race, and his passion and love for all his dogs, both working and the retirees, who are still on-site, let you know, exactly how much everyone there loves all the dogs. Thank you for great time, and wish everyone there, all the best for the future.

“Heaven for dog-lovers!”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

My husband and I visited Muktuk Adventures in January 2014 for a one-day combination package of Half-Day Rookie and Half-Day dogsledding. I would definitely recommend this combination to anyone visiting Muktuk for the first time. The Rookie for a Day experience gives you a behind the scenes view of how the staff and volunteers care for the dogs. It gives you more time to interact and play with the dogs, as compared to the half-day dog sledding tours. You definitely get a sense of how well the staff treat the dogs and they really know each of the dogs by name! Each of the dogs have their own personality, and you will probably meet one or a few who find a special spot in your heart! Highlight of the day was taking the puppies for a walk! Each of the 6 four-month-old puppies was a rambunctious bundle of energy and looked super cute bounding in the snow. They're greedy for treats so don't give them too much!

We then broke for lunch with the staff at 12 noon. It was simple and hearty but really delicious! Kudos to the chef, his quiches were some of the best I’ve ever had.

We then moved on to half-day dog sledding in the afternoon. It was really exhilarating and fun! I enjoyed it much more than snowmobiling. On a snowmobile the engine noise is so loud you’re certain to drive off whatever wildlife is around. On a dog sled, the straight stretches are quiet and you feel part of the landscape. Dogsledding is also special because you feel a sense of its long history of providing transport in the Yukon, pushing essential supplies and the mail across an unforgiving landscape. And of course dogsledding is awesome because of the cute and adorable dogs! You definitely have to be alert as your dogs have their own quirks. For example, one of your dogs may prefer to run on the left and have to switch place, or one or more might need a potty break along the way! But most of all, the dogs love to run and the adrenaline rush when you get the hang of controlling the sled and can let them run straight out is really thrilling!

In fact, we loved it so much we went back again the next day for another round of dogsledding! We still remember the names of the dogs in our teams on both days: Homer, Takhini, Smeagol, Klondike & Crosby and Kahto, Dobby, Adidas, Alsek and Yukon!

Highly recommended if you’re in Whitehorse!

“Awesome adventure”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

My husband and I went on full day dog sledding with Muktuk on the Yukon river. We shared 1 sled and were taking turns sledding and resting. Muktuk provides really warm winter clothing and it helped. Our tour guides Allen and Yuta were great. We were stuck in snow a couple times and Allen had to pull us out (fun experience!). Yuta took quite a few very nice pictures of us. They really took good care of all the hardworking dogs. We took short breaks on the way to let the team rest and cool down and Allen and Yuta were constantly checking all the dogs' paws to make sure they were not bruised from the ice. We also got to feed snacks to our team! Our 6 dogs are very cute, smart and strong. At the end of the tour, we visited 6 puppies and learned about Muktuk's dogs. It's so nice to see some shelter dogs become successful happy sledding dogs.

“Lifetime Adventure”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

Full day 7 hours Dog Sledding experience with Muktuk which is a company with huge respects of their dogs. Dogs are all well taken care of and they are very eager to run! A fun and enjoyable experience especially our guide David made camp fire at the trail up in the mountain and cooked lunch for us! Although it's simple, we never thought of having burger and hotdog in this way! This is really a lifetime adventure for us that we will never forget!
