“Always wonderful Inn”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Just after Labor Day, we stayed at the Inn on the Lake at Marsh Lake, near Whitehorse, Yukon. This was about our 6th stay and regardless of the season, it's always a real pleasure. The Inn is a wood-paneled comfy lodge in a low-density residential area, right on the lake, about 30 minutes from downtown. Owner Carson is wonderful, and rooms are all different with interesting furnishings; they also have a 2 BR suite with living room, kitchenette and separate entrance. If you elect to purchase dinner, their chef prepares a great prix fixe meal and you eat with other guests; always a friendly, international group. The Inn offers a number of amenities, including outdoor hot tub, kayaks, for multi-night stays, greens fees at a local golf course, etc.
Whitehorse, too is fun. This trip we brought friends visiting from Seattle and drove the loop: Juneau to Haines by ferry, then to Haines Junction along the Kluane provincial park, then east to Whitehorse, finall returning to Skagway and home via ferry to Juneau. The three hour drives between Haines and Haines Junction and Whitehorse to Skagway aren't like anything you'll see elsewhere, and fall colors made it spectacular. Clear skies at the Inn brought all guests outside one night for aurora viewing. The Inn features something special for each season, and each time we visit, it's like coming home.

Room Tip: We prefer to be in the main building and with a water view; if you're traveling with another cou...

A beautiful location with great hospitality and good food. A super location from which to take day trips, hike and enjoy what the Yukon has to offer. We recomend aking advantage of meals as much as possible while also taking in some of the other good restaurants available in Whitehorse or try the Wolf's Den on the way to the Inn on the Lake. You will have the opportunity at meal time to meet pepople from all over the world.

Room Tip: We had the Presidential suite but I am told if you want to sleep wherte Martha slept yo9u should try...

The night I stayed here Chef Carl Pearce (formerly cooked at Devil's Pulpit and Paint Brush Golf Club in Ontario) was at the stove and he whipped up a delicious meal: spinach soup, local lake trout with an olive/grape/onion/pepper salsa & rhubarb cheesecake for dessert. The views of Lake Marsh while we dined were gorgeous and the other guests convivial company. (You eat at one long table.) I was housed down the road and not in the main lodge so I can't comment on the main rooms. My accommodation was clean & spacious with a full kitchen and partial views of the lake. Overall a charming place with excellent eats and views.

Very nice place to stay. The rooms are very clean, nice, entrance to the lake, boat included. I have not tried their food. Very nice people running this place. 50 km from the Whitehorse but it is nice and quiet.

Spent 5 full days and 6 nights at the Inn on the Lake. We stayed in the Fireweed Cabin.
Accomodations and food were excellent. Even though we had a fully furnished cabin we opted to have our meals within the lodge. The Gourmet dinners and lunches we had were phenomenal. Breakfasts were for the most part standard, however the chocolate crepes and the waffles we had two of the days were superb.
Staff was great. Level of activities were just fine. My wife could chill out and enjoy relaxing looking out at the gorgeous scenery. I Snowshoed everyday. We enjoyed Snowmobiling and the Dogsledding activities that were arranged. Loved the outside jacuuzi that the cabin had. used it almost every night. Got to see the aurora for 3 hours one of them. I would consider a car rental even though it is expensive (a bit over $100/day) if you are staying more than a few days so as to take in some of the other sites in the area. taxi/transfer transport to and fro whitehorse to the Inn is expensive ( 110-120 each way ) ,so you need to figure that into the decision of a car rental or not. As this was an end of winter early spring trip would love to come back in the summer or fall.
Love to comeback.

Five of us shared the Fireweed Cabin. . .it was a lovely rustic cabin fully stocked with towels for indoor (white) and outdoor use (colored towels). We prepared all of our meals except for one dinner (delicious 4 course meal cooked by Carl) and found the kitchen a little short on utensils, such as a colander, grater, lids for some of the pots etc. There was no dishwasher liquid. ..quickly remedied by a trip to the lodge. In addition the cabin needed a little attention (the oven was dirty and smoked when we turned it on) - rooms were dusty but mostly clean. The shower door does not close and there are lots of light switches unconnected to anything! The deck was covered in snow which we had to remove in order to use the outdoor table and hot tub.. .On a positive note Chris was very helpful, providing advice and information on the Aurora and snowshoeing . . the aurora was elusive; seen best through a camera lens with a looooong exposure! A little attention to detail and this place would be perfect! Watch out for the feather pillows and dust if you have allergies!

Room Tip: There is a window in the upstairs of the Fireweed cabin through which you can check to see if the No...
