We had the pleasure of staying at the Northern Lights Resort and Spa over the Thanksgiving weekend. An "all girls" trip, my sisters, mother and I took a break from our own hectic lives to spend some time together and, if luck would have it, see the northern lights.

Even though Mother Nature wasn't as obliging as we'd hoped--the auroral activity was quiet for our visit--our stay was wonderful due to Wolfgang and Renate's charm. Ever gracious, we felt at home as soon as we arrived and were delighted with the cabins, Enzian and Lupine, that we had booked. They were spotlessly clean and well appointed. Renate's meals were delicious, the jacuzzi was relaxing (so say my mom and sister) and Wolfgang's humorous banter kept us all in stitches.

All in all, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. I look forward to getting a chance to visit again. Thank you so much, Renate and Wolfgang!

We had 3 wonderful nights in the Northern Lights Resort & Spa!

Our hosts Renate and Wolfgang showed us a new level of hospitality. They took care of every need and gave us all information about different trips near Whitehorse. The cabins and the Spa facilities (sauna and Jacuzzi) were clean and comfortable. Renate gave each of us a massage and it was very relaxing.

Furthermore we were very fortunate to see the Northern Lights with high activity during our stay! It was really amazing to see them with such an intensity and movement.

To sum up it is a perfect place to stay and to see the Northern Lights.

As guests from São Paulo, Brazil, we were a long way from home. Picture yourself relaxing at home, feeling comfortable, happy and peaceful, surrounded by amazing people and wildlife. That was our experience at the Northern Lights Resort and Spa. Renate and Wolfgang are amazing hosts, always concerned with our well being and providing us with the utmost comfort and space. The food was also spectacular. The mixture of Yukon and German food was incredible. Renate and Wolfgang know how to receive guests and treat them members of their family. That is how we felt. We went to Whitehorse to see the Northern lights, which we did, but the experience of seeing the northern lights would not have been the same if we were not staying at the Northern Lights Resort and Spa. We will return and with our baby kid. That is a promise.

Dear Mariana and Henrique, we hope you are doing well and did have a safe trip back to Sao Paulo. Thank you so much for staying at our Resort. We are so happy that we could be part of your Yukon Experience and that you saw the magical Northern Lights at our place. It was wonderful to have you here and we are looking forward to see you again with your son and maybe your family in the Land of the Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights. And thank you for the wonderful review. Take good care, Renate & Wolfgang

We spent 6 nights at the Northern Lights Resort & Spa and can’t speak highly enough of the warmth & hospitality of the hosts Renate and Wolfgang and the excellent facilities they provide. The “Lodge Room” was very well equipped with comfy bed/pillows, bar fridge, coffee machine, TV and free wifi. Likewise the private bathroom was equipped with luxurious towels, bath robes, hair dryer and consumables and most importantly a large shower with great water pressure (better than home!).

Wolfgang and Renate are the perfect hosts – from the minute we were collected at the airport both went out of their way to meet our needs (including arranging a special surprise cake) and providing advice on local attractions. Renate is an excellent cook and provided us with hearty & delicious 3 course meals every night and there was always seconds on offer. The menu was varied and catered for all tastes and dietary preferences/restrictions. Breakfasts were also very substantial and included a great brew of coffee.

We made good use of the hot tub and enjoyed walks around the property and down to the River. Various massage treatments are on offer at very reasonable pricing and the experience was indeed blissful! – thanks Renate. The views from the back verandah (snow capped mountains and pine forest) are stunning.

I would not hesitate to recommend this Resort and would definitely go back. Witnessing the Northern Lights require many factors to be right (aurora activity, season, weather & moon phases) – so do some research and remember it’s a natural phenomena that may not always cooperate with your timing. THANK YOU Wolfgang and Renate for being so genuinely welcoming and making our first trip to the Yukon such a memorable one.

The Northern Lights Resort and Spa was an important part of our special vacation to the Yukon. We purposely picked accomidation out of town so we had a better chance of seeing those Northern Lights and we were not disappointed! The lights were amazing to see and the resort was more than we expected! Although about 20km out of Whitehorse, it was easy and straight-forward to drive to the property.

The Cabin enzion was very clean, the bed comfortable, the small kitchenette convenient, and it was nicely decorated. Other appreciated details include the free wifi, satallite TV, a heater in the bathroom, and a front window which faces the mountains. The jucuzzi hot tub, just outside, was awesome to use after a day of sightseeing.

For convenience we chose a package which included supper and breakfast. Everything was very tasty and nicely presented with a European flare. One evening Renate made the best apple pie I have ever tasted!!! Another time she wowed us with a soufle. Wolfgang's breakfasts were filling with a selection of fresh breads, cheese, meat, egg (ask for a demonstration to crack the shell) yogurt and all the coffee I desired!

My husband was suddenly and unexpectly wheelchair bound before we arrived and the owners could not do enough for him. Wolfgang would push him to/from the cabin, special arrangements were made for him to eat at the table with the other guests and the cabin was arranged to make it easier to accomidate the wheelchair. Renate and Wolfgang went way beyond what we expected to make our visit comfortable and enjoyable. We are grateful and appreciative for all their help. We noticed that they were thoughtful and helpful with all their guests.

Overall, I can strongly recommend this wonderful accomidation, just outside of Whitehorse. We spent our 25th anniversary here on a 5 day vacation and wished we could have stayed longer!

Room Tip: Book early. There are only 3 cabins and one room available.

Me & my wife just spent 3 nights in the resort(family owned) The owner Wolfgang do a good job to maintain the condition of the resort while his wife Renate is really good in cooking. Although the food in all 3 dinners were not attractive, like "beef stew" !!
But that is the best beef stew I've tasted. (I still don't like beef stew, but that was from my high school, which is irrelevant)
I'm a city person who just expected to see northern light, but the sky isn't cooperating, very disappointed.
Overall, trip was not good but being fair the resort is good: comfy bad, spcious shower box, adequate TV channels.....can use more lamps though...
If you're city person, you may not like here ; but if you like nature or like to feel nature & to see norther light(much better chance in winter time) you will not regret your decision of choosing this resort.

Dear Vivien & Emile, thank you very much for your review. We take all reviews very seriously and it is important for us to learn from it. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations with our dinner menus, especially with the "Hungarian Gulasch". But we are happy you found the cabin comfortable and overall liked the Resort and we appreciate that you would still recommend us to other guests! Kind Regards, Wolfgang & Renate

I had an excellent trip to the Yukon. The Northern Lights and Spa was fantastic. The Cabin was VERY CLEAN, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower was very nice too! Renate and Wolfgang were wonderful hosts and had great tips on what to do and see in Whitehorse. I was blessed to view the Northern Lights during my stay. However, the lights are just part of the beautiful experience of the Yukon. This was one of the best vacations I have been on.
