We had spent one night at the Best Western and we weren't happy there and when we couldn't get a different room that would meet our needs we checked out and decided to try the Coast High Country Inn. They told us at check in there were only a couple rooms left and they let us take at look at them first to decide if we wanted to stay there. They thought the rooms might not be to our liking because they were smaller rooms. We stayed on the first floor in a little kitchenette and had a view out the back so we could keep an eye out on the equipment we had with us. It was a perfect fit for us and we ended up staying two nights there instead of one because we enjoyed the hotel and the City of Whitehorse so much.

Nothing amazing. But nothing bad. So I went with average. Good location, clean room, friendly staff... however no air conditioner or opening windows lead to a stuffy sleep and it was only in the 12-14 celsius range. Could make for a hot summer stay. I'd go back though!

This property is very well maintained and clean. The staff maintains a high rating. It is conveniently located to downtown. There are two excellent restaurants on site. I think you will enjoy staying in this property. The housekeeping staff does an excellent job in keeping the rooms immaculate.

Room Tip: You can overlook the river on 4th floor facing south.

Stayed here a couple nights this week as it is next door to the convention center. The room I stayed in was completely redone with new everything down to the shower itself. Very comfortable mattress and king bed and extremely clean with everything like new. Was concerned by other TA comments about the carpet etc, but it appears they have replaced all the carpets as they look new now.

Room Tip: Ask for a king bed.

Enjoyed four very comfortable nights here in early May 2014. They were waiting for me when my flight arrived late (around midnight), check-in was friendly and fast. Lobby area is basic, nice and clean, lots of wood, feels like one is in the north.

My room was very large and comfortable, outfitted with a very comfortable King-sized bed, a terrific workspace with a good chair, and a massive jacuzzi in the room. Room was spotless and kept that way throughout my stay - and all the public areas were similarly very clean and well maintained.

Restaurant service terrific, food very good, and reasonably priced in the main, familhy-style restaurant and in the more casual deck restaurant/bar.

Banquet service was very good and the food was great - I had the Arctic Char.

Overall a great stay and I'd definitely go back. Situated close to everything (as are most things in this lovely small city!)

I was very surprised that the High Country Inn was a "Coast" hotel as it did not meet the standards I associate with this hotel chain. I stayed in room 425 and discovered that the shower was very similar to the one I installed in our home basement 25 years ago: very small and uncomfortable, and perhaps suitable for a child. The shower curtain barely even covered the opening. The room also smelled like cigarette smoke with a scent placed on the carpet to cover up the putrid smell. I had to keep the windows open all the time to manage the poor air quality. Very uncomfortable and very unlike a Coast Hotel.

On the positive side the location at the far end of town made for a quiet sleep (even with windows open) and the food and service in the pub was of good quality. The staff were generally pleasant.

Having stayed here a couple of times before and having described the hotel as having the best handicapped accessible room facilities in Whitehorse, we stayed here again April 9th, on arriving into Whitehorse late.

Unfortunately, the great handicapped equipped room we had before has been fitted with a ridiculously high pillow top bed. Very comfortable but virtually impossible for a disabled person to transfer from a wheelchair as the bed top is some 9 inches higher than the wheelchair seat. Similar problems getting out when one's feet come nowhere near the floor.

Once again, lack of thought and a step backwards. We will have to look elsewhere next time.
