Stayed here for 3 days. The hotel is an older building that has been extensively updated, and the room furnishings and decor are very pleasant, modern, and up to date.
The restaurant is run by a third party (not the hotel), it is excellent - very good food and first class service. It's not cheap, though - $100 for dinner for 2 without alcohol is about par for the course.
Almost all of the employees at this hotel are Filipino temporary foreign workers (TFWs). By nature, these folks are very pleasant, very polite, and very service oriented. But - these TFWs don't necessarily have any hotel experience or hospitality industry skills when they arrive in Canada, and the folks who run this hotel are not doing enough to provide the TFWs with proper training.
The result is a front desk clerk who things that having 3 different rooms (a room move every night) is a satisfactory solution for a 3 night reservation - this because it makes the computer happy, housekeepers who don't put any sand or salt outside the hotel entrances and exits, even though the walkways are covered with sheer ice, housekeepers who chatter loudly to each other right outside guest rooms in the morning, etc.
This hotel has the potential to be a real gem, but due to laissez-faire management, it suffers from numerous problems that could so easily be avoided.
The hotel is directly across the street from the airport. It's a $5 taxi ride, don't bother waiting for the "free shuttle", it does not run frequently enough to be of any use. Just grab a cab and have the driver take you to the other side of the street (it's a 5 minute walk, but that would not be practical with luggage - too much snow in the winter, too much mud in the summer).
