Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: The Bassment is a great live jazz and roots music venue in the heart of downtown Saskatoon. Every weekend begins with no cover Piano Friday - live piano, friends, food, and fun. Piano Fridays run from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. As for our shows, there are about two to four every week, sometimes up to six! We provide the best live music experience: great acoustics, atmosphere, drinks, and food. For each event, the doors are open 1 hour prior to the show (Fridays being an exception: then, they are open at 4:30 pm because of Piano Fridays). The Bassment is an all ages venue.

We have visited this venue several times in the past few years and will continue to go back as long as the quality of entertainment remains.
This venue is situated in the basement of an office building in the downtown area of Saskatoon and can be difficult to find on the first visit.
However, the team at the Bassment seem to be able to bring together some very good groups, both local and imported which result in a great evening out for music lovers.
Seating can be a dilemna in this venue, the result of pillars (which hold up the office building above) being placed in areas where a good view of the stage is cut off if you aren't one of the first patrons there for the evening. They have installed some mirrors to help this, but it still is a problem for some patrons.
The menu is limited and the bar is small, but they still seem to be able to keep up with demand.
This place seems to have a large number of "regulars", so once you have been there a few times, it becomes a little easier to connect with other patrons and form acquaintances.
I think, with the exception of the obstructed views, I would almost be tempted to give it a 5 !!

Visit the Bassment website for upcoming shows, and enjoy their regular Friday after work sessions. Tickets for non-members are usually between $25-$45 (some acts as low as $20), and it's the best live music deal in town. Renowned Jazz Artists such as Benny Green come here, and are often surprised by the musical knowledge and enthusiasm of the patrons of this intimate Club. You'll find everyone very friendly and laid back. There's surprising good food service (not just your standard pub fare). Come early for best seats, as it's always rush seating. If you want to eat a complete meal, consider coming at least 90 minutes before showtime.

In the basement of the old post office building right in the heart of downtown Saskatoon. There's some great local and touring groups and people who play here. Very relaxed usually plenty of space and quite comfortable setting. Jam sessions at times (usually free) and concerts at others, check their website. Length of stay depends on why you are there - last Friday's concert was about 2.5 hours, for a casual after work drink, perhaps an hour or so would suffice.
