“Daughters wedding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

Everyone was wonderful. They went out of their way to meet all our needs. They turned on the waterslide early morning each morning we were there so that our young guests had time to have some fun. Sally the manager went above and beyond. Giving us the breakfast room to do wedding prep when the meeting room was booked. Breakfast each morning was wonderful and never ran out of anything and there was a lot of us.... Thanks for helping make our daughter's wedding such success!!.

New hotel with great rooms. Very clean. comfy beds No restaurant but good breakfast buffet, free with room. Front desk not unfriendly but needs to be more welcoming/professional. Industrial zone so not much within walking distance. Would stay again if passing through.

Room Tip: Ask for East facing room

As everything was solidly booked downtown Saskatoon, I had to look for an alternative and came across this property that had fairly good reviews on a few sites. This is a decent offering from Comfort Suites and there is nothing wrong about this property. The average rating reflects more the fact that "this is just another hotel", more than anything else

What I liked: New property, good sized room, friendly staff, complimentary wifi and breakfast. Room also featured a microwave and mini-fridge. Everything was in working order. Good and reliable internet speed. Comfortable bed. Good size bathroom. Good, but not great value

What could be improved: All in, this would compare to a new Hampton Inn & Suites with good, but basic amenities. Bathroom amenities (shampoo, soap) was of fairly quality. The bathtub was on the small side. Lower end hotels also all tend to feature through the wall air conditioning/heating which tends to be noisier than central ac/heating and is not as effective at keeping an even temperature throughout the room. The complimentary breakfast was sufficient - but again very basic and would be very similar to that of alternative chains in the same category (Hampton, Holiday Inn Express, ...). finally, although the building is completed, nearby amenities (such as parking and access to the front desk through main doors) still needs a fair amount of work.

Other factors: As far as location, some would argue that this is in the middle of nowhere. Next to the Credit Union center, this would be most convenient for sport events or concerts as there is virtually nothing else around. Also, there is another Comfort (Inn) in town so if taking a cab to the property, do mention that you are going to the Comfort Suites next to the Credit Union Center. Finally, although it appears to be close to the airport (virtually across the street from airport land), there is no straight road access - so you kinda need to go around

This hotel is newer so the building and rooms looked good on the surface. I found this hotel has some management issues. Some staff in the hotel seemed to have no idea that they are in the services industry and that they were rather impolite. One older lady working at the front desk did not greed us when we were in front of her even when I said "Good afternoon" to her first. A few more interactions with her resulted in similar experience. One time we needed to ask her to reactivate the room key and during the whole process she wouldn't say a word or even look at me even I greeted her first with a "good evening". Then it was the older lady working in the breakfast kitchen who showed no hospitality to any guest. It looked as if these people did not give a damn to their hotel guests.

Another issue for us is that we booked a 2 queen suite and it turned out it was just a slightly larger than average room with 2 queen beds plus a small living area divided by a pieces of 2' by 4' glass on the wall. The descriptions of the room on their website made it sounds like it is a real suite but it wasn't. It is rather misleading and perhaps that why they never post any picture of their rooms on their website.

The hotel is surrounded by some commercial truck stops and industrial gas stations. I could hear big trucks pulling in and out during the whole night. Also, the whole area (further outside the un-landscaped parking areas of the hotel) are not paved. It felt like living in a desert with so much sand and dust covering everywhere surrounding the hotel and nearby facilities. One evening we walked to the nearby Tim Horton and all our clothing turned yellow when we back in the hotel. It was quite an unpleasant experience.

I also found left over articles such as water bottles underneath the furniture when I first checked in my room.

I have spoken with other guests inside the elevator and a few expressed the same observations about the quality of some of the staff at the hotel.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone unless the management replaces or retrain some of the staff who have been giving the hotel a bad reputation.

Have a nice trip in Saskatoon!

This is a brand new hotel with a very good breakfast (eggs, sausage, english muffins etc.) and it is right beside the Credit Union Centre where the Saskatoon Blades play. Maybe the largest hotel room (other than a suite) that I have ever stayed in. Beds were comfortable, temperature control worked well. If you do not like the food, there is a Tim Hortons a 3 minute walk north of the property. My only concern is the muddy parking area (which is temprorary). They will be pouring their parking lot sometime this spring/summer. This is a must stay for airport travellers.

Room Tip: South rooms over look the Credit Union Centre, the North Rooms overlook Husky and Tim Hortons.

On the inside, this hotel was nice. It's brand new, clean and staff was AWESOME!! Room was very spacious. When we called, we specifically asked about the pool, they said they had one. When we showed up, it wasn't open. The parking lot was still a construction site - muddy as all-get-out...unfortunately, this made the floors of the hotel quite muddy also. Good location if you are flying...unfortunately, we weren't, so it seemed a bit out of the way. Stayed with a toddler and a cat. Would probably stay again if they fix the parking lot and open the pool.

We stayed here for 2 nights and thought the hotel was great. They were doing construction on the main entrance so it was a bit inconvenient to park in the makeshift lot in the back. Overall the hotel was nice, staff were friendly and our room was nice. Lots of space and even had a nice sitting area off to the side. Would definitely stay here again.
