The Konga is a very small hole in the wall restaurant that oozes a aura of homemade, down-to-earth Canadian Caribbean cooking. Because it's so small, you have to go at off times to get a seat. It is a popular place because the food is so great. It is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The tastes are exquisite, drawing upon Caribbean flavourings and spices. The portions are generous. The restaurant is owned by a couple. He serves and she cooks. Even though it's small, if the restaurant is full, the time to get your meal can be a bit long but the reward of a delicious piping hot meal is well worth the wait. The ambience is indie combined with mom's house. The owners are fun and engage with customers.

Good food, friendly service and a unique dining experience. We discovered Conga Cafe a few years ago and have been back many times. Nothing fancy and the location leaves a little to be desired. Family owned business and well worth a try !

I had heard all sorts of great things about the newish ethnic restaurant in Saskatoon - I just had to try it out for myself. It was a big disappointment.

My wife and I ordered the classic Jerk Chicken and a Konga burger. If there is one dish that a Caribbean joint should do right it is Jerk Chicken. The chicken was cooked OK, but it wasn't real Jerk, it was just a breast piece glazed in some kind of syrupy, corn-starchy sauce - no heat, and very little flavour, and certainly none of the char-grilling of authentic Jerk. I expected the chicken to have been marinading in the spices, but this was just a sauce poured over the top of the meat at the end of the cooking. The rice and beans were not great - rice was clumpy and over cooked.

The Konga burger was cooked nicely - good char-crust on the outside (why wasn't the chicken cooked this way?), but it had no Caribbean flavour, not spice, not special home-made BBQ Sauce or anything - just a piece of well-cooked ground beef on a white bun along with the standard iceberg lettuce rib and under-ripe tomato slice.

Yes, the atmosphere is laid-back, but it looked cluttered and dirty. I didn't get any Caribbean atmosphere other than the laid-back, unshaven owner/manager/boss?

Loved the spicy peanut shrimp dish. I had mine with the regular vegetables and chose the rice and beans option. It was a perfect portion size for me and the service was also great. Don't be afraid of the location and the exterior, it's worth it inside.

If you are looking for some amazing food in a laid back atmosphere this is the place for you!!

Curried shrimp is my absolute favourite, but if they are offering the mahi mahi special it trumps all! Make sure you have a chat with Eddy while you are there, he will probably be mixing your drinks or dreaming up some to-die-for dessert while Marcia cooks up a storm, perfect every time. The Konga team is super friendly, and I am sure they will have you smiling in no time :).

Oh! And be sure to try the key lime pie, best I have ever had!
