I found this site to be small, however, it was interesting. \there was a fantastic glass art display, as well as a display of horse related historical art, and, textiles. I happened to get luck and sat in on a tour that was going on. Th man providing the our was very interesting, entertaining and well informed. I really appreciated his honest approach to the history and art on display. As well, there are beautiful trails to walk.

i was excited about visiting this park after reading about it. i am very interested in first nations culture and given the spiritual significance of this place to the first nations people it had the makings of a fantastic summer afternoon.

first off, there was really no program/map available. we asked for one and a photocopied map from a separate event held at the park was given to us. hmmm....no map?...???

i should say that the trip was not terrible, it was just not what i expected. after watching a very dated film they have available (more slideshow with voice-over than an actual film) on the area i was left with more questions than answers. yes, the area is significant, yes, first nations people have been going there for thousands of years but tell me a little more WHY and tell me a little more about WHO.

we then proceeded to walk the trails, somewhat blindly. there are signs along the path but once again, they really do not provide in-depth info.

after returning to the centre i went through the art gallery. the art was okay but disappointing. the gift shop was okay, but also disappointing. cafe looked cute but we had already eaten.

to be fair, there are some spectacular views to be had if you are willing to walk along to find them. really, if you are not interested in first nations culture, history, or any sort of educational component and you are solely interested in an easy hike with some great views, this place would be perfect. sadly i wanted more.

a few other notes:
1. kinda overpriced
2. BRING BUG SPRAY
3. also, bring a hat if it is sunny
4. you will not need a lot of time unless you want to walk on all the paths. likely less than two hours tops.

I visited Waneskewin this past weekend and was sorely disappointed. This wonderful facility used to present a museum quality display of First Nations life over the past 5 to 7 thousand years. Those displays have disappeared and replaced with two art galleries that display First Nations art and personal successes - but no history. It is definitely not worth the significant price of admission,

We attended on a Saturday afternoon and there was almost no one there. Shame on the Board and shame on the management. A great facility and a great opportunity lost.

Unfortunately Saskatoon is a province in the cold climate of Canada, but this park offers little when its cold. Not as positive of an experience as the zoo.
