When travelling on business I like to explore and find local favorites that are independent operations. Asking shop clerks, my local business contacts are good sources. Another is the discover our city brochures hotels offer. This is where I saw the ad for Bushwakkers - voted in the top 5 brew pubs in Canada. That caught my attention. Tracked down the address and during my travels realized it was close by. Parked and walked in at lunch hour on a Wednesday I was pleased to find a table in this restored warehouse. Simple décor ad befitting a brew pub. Simple table and counters with high ceilings. Bustling service staff and a menu printed like a local newspaper. Plenty of selection of beers from across Canada and around the world along with their own offerings. A simple menu with some creative, locally flavored dishes, like the Saskatchewan hot lunch (Ukrainian favorites) and a Tennessee Bourbon pecan pie. Prices reasonable and portions generous. The atmosphere was boisterous with plenty of noisey conversation. A very entertaining experience and excellent meal. Good brew...good grub...great service. A strong recommendation for this spot just outside of the downtown core in the warehouse district.
