Seven of us visited the Lounge at Boston Pizza at Thatcher & Main on October 4/13. We call ourselves the 5:01 Club because we try to be at our TGIF destination of choice by 5:01 on a Friday. We have a 10 item rating system. Parking was ample. The music wasn't too loud - we like to visit, not yell at each other. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the decor had been updated since the last time we were there, and the washroom was newly redone - very clean and bright with towels - not just a hand drier (which drives me crazy). I would prefer to have the words on the washroom door as well as the symbol (some of us have problems with symbols and have ended up in the 'wrong' washroom). The service was excellent because the server had to juggle the different couples' bills when they were not sitting side-by-side, and she "got it right". She was efficient and kept coming back to see if we needed anything else. We didn't get her name, but I would like to say that in some places we've visited, the wait staff changes after we've arrived, which is very confusing, and frustrating - that didn't happen here. Also, it was nice to see the female staff not having to wear short skirts and low-cut tops. It was a Roughrider 'game day' so many servers were wearing Roughrider themed clothes - nice touch. We had to arrange for tables to be moved to accommodate our number and again, the staff helped out with putting tables together. We liked the variety of 'beverages' on tap (I love Rickard's White and when it's on tap, the establishment gets high points from me). The food was great and served hot and in good time. The only negative was that smoking is allowed on the patio. We non-smokers like to visit the patio too, but don't want to breathe in second-hand-smoke. Even thought it was October, the 4th was very nice and we could have sat outside. Also, the smell of smoke was evident in the lounge - of course it wafts in when the door is opened. It's time to cater to the majority of non-smokers, and make the whole restaurant healthier fo everyone, especially the servers who don't have a choice - what about Occupational Health and Safety? All in all, this restaurant/lounge rated pretty high with our group. Keep up the good work.
