Seven of us visited the Lounge at Boston Pizza at Thatcher & Main on October 4/13. We call ourselves the 5:01 Club because we try to be at our TGIF destination of choice by 5:01 on a Friday. We have a 10 item rating system. Parking was ample. The music wasn't too loud - we like to visit, not yell at each other. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the decor had been updated since the last time we were there, and the washroom was newly redone - very clean and bright with towels - not just a hand drier (which drives me crazy). I would prefer to have the words on the washroom door as well as the symbol (some of us have problems with symbols and have ended up in the 'wrong' washroom). The service was excellent because the server had to juggle the different couples' bills when they were not sitting side-by-side, and she "got it right". She was efficient and kept coming back to see if we needed anything else. We didn't get her name, but I would like to say that in some places we've visited, the wait staff changes after we've arrived, which is very confusing, and frustrating - that didn't happen here. Also, it was nice to see the female staff not having to wear short skirts and low-cut tops. It was a Roughrider 'game day' so many servers were wearing Roughrider themed clothes - nice touch. We had to arrange for tables to be moved to accommodate our number and again, the staff helped out with putting tables together. We liked the variety of 'beverages' on tap (I love Rickard's White and when it's on tap, the establishment gets high points from me). The food was great and served hot and in good time. The only negative was that smoking is allowed on the patio. We non-smokers like to visit the patio too, but don't want to breathe in second-hand-smoke. Even thought it was October, the 4th was very nice and we could have sat outside. Also, the smell of smoke was evident in the lounge - of course it wafts in when the door is opened. It's time to cater to the majority of non-smokers, and make the whole restaurant healthier fo everyone, especially the servers who don't have a choice - what about Occupational Health and Safety? All in all, this restaurant/lounge rated pretty high with our group. Keep up the good work.

We arrived at 6:40 to a busy noisy place and had to wait about 25 minutes to get seated between two families with small children, and it seemed to be a theme; there were small children everywhere, and many of them weren't happy. In addition, there were 4 birthdays noisily acknowledged while we we were there. Definitely not adult night at BP. The food was, as most state decent in amount, heat and price. I had the Chicken pesto penne. If you order this dish fore the penne, you will be impressed, but if you order for the chicken, you'll be disappointed; smallest chicken breast I've ever seen. Comments on the ribs, 7 cheese ravioli and veggie spaghetti were all positive. My wife did not like the Montreal smoked beef sandwich, and the fries that came with it looked as if they had been in the deep fryer twice. Yes, we would return, but never again on Friday.

Dear Dave,

Thank you for your feedback on your experience at Boston Pizza Main & Thatcher. We are sorry you had to wait for a table. In order to avoid waiting time we generally recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends during supper time.

We are sorry that you felt disturbed by the children in the restaurant. Our store is divided into two sections, the family-friendly restaurant and the lounge, where minors don’t have access to. The menu is the same on both sides, so maybe try dining at the lounge the next time and see if you like the atmosphere there better.

We are glad you liked the “Slow-Roasted Pork Back Ribs”, the “Baked Seven-Cheese Ravioli” and the “Mediterranean Veggie Pasta”. Thank you for commenting positively about those menu items. Boston Pizza is a franchise; hence we don’t have control over portion sizes and prizes. The same applies to the size of the chicken breasts. If you like a lot of protein with your pasta, we recommend the “Smokey Mountain Spaghetti” or the “Jambalaya Fettuccini” for your next visit! If your fries were too dark or fried longer than you prefer, please let your server know right away and we can fry some new ones for you according to your liking!

Again, thank you for taking the time and writing a detailed comment and our apologies for any inconvenience you encountered during your stay!

Hope to see you back soon!
Best regards,
Katie

We dined here a few times during our week in Moose jaw. The service was always great. The menu is consistent with the brand. We were not disappointed.

Stopped in late afternoon on a really hot day looking for a nice cold beer. Sat out on the nicely shaded patio. Our waitress provided exceptional service. Food was excellent. It just makes your day when you meet someone that seems to really enjoy their job,

Thanks

Arrived for late dinner (7 :30 PM) restaurant was crowded but we were seated quickly and even our hostess was surprised at how quickly our meal came. We had chicken/rice noodle item - large portion, hot and delicious. Very friendly wait staff A bit noisy but lots of kids and a birthday party so no problem
