We spent a couple of days in Moose Jaw and tried the local cuisine. Our first stop at a competing restaurant was not great so we decided to try the Hickory Smokehouse.
We didn't have reservations but they were able to accomodate us. There seems to be a seating area at the front of the restaurant and an area that heads toward the back. We ended up in the area near the rear away from the front. There was a fair amount of noise coming from the kitchen. Between the regular kitchen noises plus some loud equipment and the kitchen staff trying to communicate to each other, it was loud. As well, there were patrons with young children at two adjacent tables. That was really our only issue.
I had ribs and my girfriend had ribs and 1/4 chicken. They were both excellent. The potatoes were very well done as were the vegetables. With the ample portions, neither of us were able to finish our meals. We each tried a different cocktail and were happy with them both. Our server was quick efficient and knowledgeable.
I was the best restaurant we ate at in Moose Jaw.
