This restaurant deserves every one of its five stars. The menu is inspired, the food exquisite and the service great. A must visit for all lovers of fine cuisine and culinary creativity.

“Wow !!!”

Fine cuisine, good wine, exquisite presentation in a nice waterfront site. It's hidden a little bit, make sure to look for it up the stairs :-)

I was disappointed with Le Poivre Noir. I heard about it, and was excited to go, but overall, I wasn't too impressed. First: service. The service was terrible. The server was not nice, really not attentive, obviously couldn't wait to get out of there, and was so slow. We were about 6 tables, 3 servers, and she found a way of not being present and being slow.

The food was good. The porc was ok.. well cooked when I got it,but then you had Chartreuse flambée, which make it cook it more, and then it was a bit overcooked. Not so tasty either. The pine nuts' risotto was amazing. The wine by the glass was obviously open for a few days, it wasn't fresh.
The decoration was cold, I didn't like it, but the view is amazing on the Fleuve (with big windows).

“An exceptional restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

After 10 years in the US, and 30 years in France, I must say that it's probably one of the finest and greatest restaurants my and I ever tried. The service is perfect (Simon knows how to present and explain each dish in a precise and appealing way) and the food is really EXCEPTIONAL. Imaginative, but not too much, innovative, but not too much, and full of new tastes. If you look for probably the best restaurant in Trois-Rivières, just go at Le Poivre Noir ! For 80$ per person we got a fantastic dinner with a sparkling wine from Italy at the beginning, a 3-course menu and an excellent red Douro from Portugal. A must-try restaurant.

“Great food, but expect to wait for it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2011

Excellent food. We had a large party so we got tom try most things on the menu. The foie GRAS plates were well balanced and were very flavourful. We were a bit dubious about the flavor combinations, but they all worked well together.
We shared the Peking duck and it was amazing. Well cooked and you get a full leg and breast each.
Great wine list and decor as well. The prices are high end, but the quality of the food is high as well.
The service was a bit uneven as we had empty water and wine glasses several times. It looked like they could have used another server in our area.
All in all, it as a great experience.
