After trying to locate the Hotel Tadoussac's restaurant menus online and failing (they get a poor rating for their website) I decided to stop by as it was near the motel I was staying. They have the menus on the reception counter which was nice and I decided on the buffet. I really loved their cold section. They salmon smoked, poached, cured. Another type of smoked fish that was excellent, pâté, shrimp (the small oh so yummy local ones) as well as another type that were so so. They had a beef roast (I won't call it prime) that was sliced for you which was pretty good, the au jus left me wanting the kind I make at home. There a soup that I had a hard time figuring out what it was, I think it was a butternut squash pureed soup, not bad. The sides were the downfall: rice, some pasta that looked too dried out to be desired, some non descript fish in a poor sauce that was so overlooked it was unedible and finally some chicken breast pieces in a BBQ type sauce that was also so overcooked it too was unedible. However, I had filled up so much on the cold offerings and the meat it was okay. There several desserts to choose from but they were not amazing. I tasted a lemon curd (pudding?) and a wedge of lemon tart. I thought it strange to have two lemon offerings, I thought they were vanilla upon choosing. They also had a cheese section which was nice but didn't have room for but was appropriately offered by the desserts for eating post meal as they do in France. All said, dining alone at buffet with 1 glass of lackluster wine with tip totaled $69! That's pretty pricey!!
