“Wonderful location with weak points”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

The hotel is wonderfully located directly at the bay, there is for sure no nicer spot to stay in Tadoussac. Due to low season we were given an upgrade to a room with sea view which was great. The furnishing is a bit outdated and the bathroom was one of the smallest we had on our whole trip in Canada. Breakfast is with 20 CAD relatively expensive in comparison to what you get - but was still the best hotel breakfast on our trip. Choice could be here and there more healthy (regarding cereals and bread for example). But overall, I would recommend this hotel for a stay.

This hotel is coastline icon and in the perfect place for whale watching. We even watched whales from our bedroom window! However there isn’t much of a choice of luxury hotels in this area and we would investigate a quality b&b if returning.

The rooms are quite small and there didn’t seem to be an option to have a larger room. The rooms also allowed sound to travel and we could here all our neighbours bathroom plumbing.

Loved the ‘wet weather’ jigsaw.

Stayed 3 nights in june.Actually, my third stay there in the last ~20 years.Somewhat outdated, rooms (even the so-called superior room with view to the Tadoussac bay) quite small for the money now being asked, general maintenance should be reviewed.I don't think there was aircondition in the room.Windows generally very small, hence limited view, but this is the it was built back then.On the other hand, grand scenery, the feeling of being in a goneby era.Nicest time to go, in my personal opinion, is in september. Less traveled, weather often favorable.Very picturesque hotel, actually used to shoot an american movie in the eighties...

Stayed October 8 2013, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, also had no problem communicating in English, which was great since my French is severely lacking. The location is lovely perfect especially of you book the water view room. The hotel is a century Hotel with some dated fixtures, but they keep the grounds & rooms clean. The atmosphere is in keeping with the heritage of the area. I would recommend staying here for location & view, we ate at a local place the day we left pink building right across from bay ( sorry can't remember name), and the food was good service very friendly and beer cold.

Room Tip: must take a ferry to this town but it is quick and efficient and no charge. Although there are a lo...

We stayed here only for one night but it was definatelly a good stay.
Reception and concierge are very friendly and helpfull, offered us a nice package including whalewatching and breakfast.

Room was nice but bathroom is very small and the lack of airconditioning robbed us from some sleep, even with the windows open and the stiff wind the room hardly got cooler.

Breakfast in the morning goes smooth and plenty of choice
Would come again as location is great as well is the hotel

Room Tip: Choice the rivier room

This is our third trip to this hotel but our first off peak season. We have retired and felt there would be less people and more whale activity. We LOVE the hotel. We had the balcony room and drank wine while watching lovely sunsets. Our whale excursions were wonderful....wet and cold on the zodiac, but terrific! The village is filled with kind, warm, friendly people. We ate a place called la Galoise and it was delicious. We ate in the Cloverdale dining room at the hotel on our first night and were so sad. Usually in the summer there is a lovely buffet. We thought that since we ordered a la carte in the dining room the quality of the food and the service would be even better. We had another couple with us and ordered. We waited an hour and a half for our meals and it was not busy at all. Then we received cold food. The manager never offered us a free drink, or a dessert for having waited so long....no apology....nothing. I felt sorry for our serveuse. Our bill was $110.00. We are not complainers. We just felt that a gesture of some sort would have been appreciated. There was yelling in the kitchen that we could hear. I know that we will return here again but we will go in the summer months. It is still my favourite place on Earth.

Room Tip: Room 333 has the only balcony. The rooms on either side of that room have the largest windows on the...

The place to stay in Tadoussac! Go for the experience of an Old World Lodge. Staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Rooms, while a bit small, are safe, clean and comfortable. Hotel is within walking distance of hiking trails, whale watching, and quality, small eateries. Be sure to try the deserts at the Cafe Boheme in town. While the many bus tours that stop here can be a bit annoying, the atmosphere and service at this hotel more than makeup.
