Description: Sultry red, green and orange hues are part of the welcoming décor of this restaurant which carries you for a few hours to the wonderful Italy of music and laughter. In winter, our lovers can bask in an atmosphere warmed by two beautiful fireplaces. But the uniqueness of the decor rests primarily on the fascinating collection of more than 4,000 bottles of every shape and size from every corner of the Earth.

Dinner at Parmesan was one of the most delightful experiences of a confessed foodie's life. We found the restaurant to be an energetic buzz of enthusiastic diners criss crossed with busy but very helpful waiters working in concert. The candlelit and memento filled atmosphere is complemented by a strolling accordion player, further enhancing the festive mood. An added bonus: The menu is not only comprehensive, but printed in a wonderfully large font for easy reading.

Luigi, the owner, makes everyone feel they are special and after weeks on the road my husband and I felt we had suddenly come home. The Lemon Veal Piccata with Linguine was sublime though Luigi noted the Veal Martini was one of his favorites. Craving fresh veggies, I was thrilled with the Watercress and endive salad. Every leaf was perfection.

We also highly recommend the Cold Zabaglione with Luigi's home made aged Balsamic Vinegar which lofted it into a completely different dessert realm. Pride in the many house made products is so evident that we are returning to sample his own Prosciutto de Luigi with melon.

Oh, and ask Luigi for a cup of his special, top secret Italian Coffee.

My wife and I were reading the menu outside when another couple stopped and started a conversation with us about the local eateries. They told us the carriage driver they just talked to recommended this place. We decided to go in as it was getting close to dinner time and we wanted to avoid a wait. We were seated immediately and took in the eclectic decor all around us. Everywhere you look is a visual experience, but i digress, on to the service and food. Outstanding! The waitstaff recognized we were not locals by our fractured French and provided us with a menu (and service) in English. The food and wine we ordered were presented in a timely manner by a very professional staff. The food was excellent. Luigi, our host, was most concerned his customers were well cared for and well fed, and we complimented him and his staff.

We were not with very high expections about the Parmesan. The food was average, the service not bad and the bill at the end also average for Québec City standards.
