“Wonderful B&B”
Reviewed July 23, 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful B&B! Greg is a wonderful host, our room (the red room with 2 beds) was gorgeous and extremely comfortable for our family, which includes two children, ages 15 and 12. We were in Quebec City during a record-breaking heatwave, and coming back to our cool and comfortable room each evening was a pleasure. The breakfasts are wonderful, and as others have pointed out, fuel you until almost dinnertime! The blueberry pancakes are especially good.

After a rather disastrous stay at a B&B in Normandy that made us question our long-standing preference for B&B's, our stay at the James Thompson B&B has restored our love of the B&B experience -- thanks Greg!

A cozy and wonderful home and host. Upon arrival, Greg quickly showed us around his home and very kindly gave us maps of Old Quebec City to use during the trip. He is very passionate about the city and gave us lots of information on where to eat and visit. Overall, the room was lovely and the shower was fantastic (plenty of towels). The location of the b&b is excellent. Very quiet but assessible to where the action is (minutes away from a variety of restaurants and another 5-8 minutes from the Chateau Frontenac). The breakfast is outstanding and keeps you going until lunchtime without fail (particularly the French toast, home fries and sausage). We would love to go back to Quebec City in the future and stay at the same b&b.

We stayed in this historic B&B several years ago and had a great Quebec City experience. We returned July 2010 and loved the stay. Greg was a great host and breakfast cook. Since it is within the walled city, you are surrounded by all the historic buildings. Very charming location. Check out the view from our room! W & S.

Couldn't ask for more at this B&B. Easy to find, within walking distance from everything in vieux Quebec, clean, comfortable. My 4 year old was welcomed and felt comfortable at the B&B. Our room was tastefully and comfortably furnished, with lots of room and a big bathroom.

One thing I appreciated was that it wasn't too fussy. Sometimes I find B&Bs are full of dolls and dried flowers. Maison Historique is filled with art, light, sturdy furniture.

Me and my husband stayed here for 3 nights on our tour of eastern Canada. The historic house is stylishly furnished and spotlessly clean. Guitta is the perfect host and served enormous gourmet breakfasts, fresh fruit starter, fruit juice, choice of delicious hot main and croissants and pastries to finish. Everything beautifully presented. Our room was huge with a very comfortable bed. The house is within the old town walls and perfectly situated for walking to the numerous delights of the city. Should we return to Quebec we would not consider staying anywhere else, maybe next time we will be lucky enough to meet Greg.

My wife and i stayed here recently and was blown away by the great hospitality provided by Guita and her family during our stay. Each morning we were greeted by our lovely host and offered a variety of options for breakfast from cereals and croissants to a fully cooked breakfast. The B&B is in such a great location, my wife and i were easily able to walk the whole town and all it's attractions. If you are looking for a well situated, clean and friendly B&B than this is the one. My wife and i have travelled quite extensively and this place is a hidden gem compared to expensive hotels.
Thankyou Greg and Guita.

This is an excellent B&B located in the upper town of the Old City. My boyfriend and I stayed here 4 years ago and this last time we went with another friend. All of us had an extremely comfortable and peaceful night's rest and enjoyed the hearty breakfast (there was fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, choice of pancake/waffle/omelette, sausages, croissants, a huge selection of spreads and cereals, hot mini-muffins and tea/coffee) the next day. I cannot say enough about how friendly, warm and helpful Greg and Guitta are to visitors. Even before we arrived I was corresponding with Greg about dog sledding, getting around the city, etc. and every question I asked was met with a comprehensive and helpful response followed by an invitation to please feel free to ask even more questions should I have any. Guitta also kindly volunteered to cater breakfast to us at 7.30 in the morning because a shuttle was scheduled to pick us up to go dog sledding at 8.15. When we were due to leave, there was no problem leaving our luggage behind as well as relaxing in the comfortable living room before we had to go catch our bus. Finally, to those who like to stay connected - the friends I travel with were very pleased with the high-speed wireless internet connection available.
