My husband and I decided to have dinner at le St-Amour for our anniversary. It was an excellent idea; nice romantic atmosphere, even if the tables could be a little further apart, the acoustic of the room is good so you don't hear what everybody else is saying. The food was really great, especially all the details like vegetables, presentation, amuse bouche, food temperature...everything is just perfect. The wine list is very extensive and covers a large range of prices. Service was very nice just friendly enough and not intrusive. The art déco décor is very nice. The bill is pretty expensive but this is worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Three of us were seated immediately and provided with our choice of English or French menus. My first impression was that each item on the menu was described in extreme detail, making choosing our meal a little difficult because every item had something really good and something kinda ho-hum. Obviously what is preferred differs by individual, but it was not clear what would be dominant versus subtle on the plate. In short the menu offers too much information, so you need to ask. The wine list was very good, but the prices were extreme - I know for a fact that the markup was insane, approaching 4-6 times what you would pay at retail.

The food was excellent. However, it was all very heavy with many flavors on the plate and lacking in vegetables as others have noted. I would have preferred slightly simpler dishes. While I did have the smaller tasting menu, I was quite full at the end of the meal, I ate a little bit more than I would have liked.

Certainly this is a very good restaurant, but I hope to have pointed out a few points that I found made it less than perfect.

We had dinner here on Christmas eve and it was one of the best dinners we've ever had. The food was delicious, the decor was beautiful and the staff was very welcoming and professional. This is the place to go for a special evening--well worth the price.

We had the inspration menu, 5 different dishes all very good. The piglet confit was to die for. The beef Tatiki with crispy culiflower was evenly good. Overall a great dinner, the service was very good.

We came for the seared foie gras and were only slightly disappointed, you see we came during lunch, and the seared foie gras was not on the lunch menu. But after having the terrine of foie gras and some sauterne we were deemed worthy and the establishment and chef made "an exception" and served us the the seared foie gras with some additional sauterne. Our pallets were now satisfied. Service was excellent, the atmosphere could not be improved on. Expensive, oh yes, 2 terrine of foie gras, two seared foie gras, a cheese plate, and four sauterne's, $200 plus the tip. For this were not complaining, we are simply informing, we knew what we wanted and Le Saint Amour provided exactly what we ordered and wanted. An outstanding lunch.
