Description: The magic of the Petit-Champlain district adds to the charm of the Lapin Sauté. By day, this pedestrian street comes alive with the sounds of chatter. By night, the lighting makes shadows dance on the walls of the street's historic houses. Dining at the Lapin Sauté is akin to walking into a warm, quaint and cozy inns from the early 20th century. There is nothing better than sitting in the comfort of this small, friendly 32-seat restaurant where you're always welcomed with open arms. During the summer, the Lapin expands to 52 seats with its outdoor terrace and patrons flock here under the warm sun. In the winter, a fire warms your heart and soul as you discover local country products made and served like nowhere else.

Really great little place, we went in the winter so there was just the small restaurant (in the summer they do have a patio and we plan to go back) The staff are warm, the atmosphere is relaxed, the food is great and at a good price. This was the first time I had tasted rabbit and I have to say it was worth trying, absolutely delish. We went on a Saturday morning early, as we were leaving we noticed it start to get busy and a little crowded, so just try to go early on busier days.

A great hidden gem in the lower town of old Quebec. Food is reasonably priced (menu products and prices on trip advisor are out of date). We had rabbit dishes for mains and they were excellent. Fresh and delicious. Dessert whilst tasty was a bit if a let down as the dishes (Apple pie and creme brûlée) were cold and seemed not to have been created with the same love as the mains.

That said this is a very unique restaurant in a very lovely part of town that should be on your to do list.

Great small restaurant. We had a late lunch there after taking a city walking tour.
Rabbit themed with rabbit prepared in many different ways. We both had egg dishes.
Both were excellent, included bread with homemade Jam to die for.

Wait staff were terrific, personable and informative.

This is the second time we've eaten here. And this time, we actually ate rabbit. It was good, not fantastic, not wow, but good and I would recommend it to everyone, especially those who are leering of trying something they've never eaten. With no patio, the restaurant is tiny in the winter months but cozy. Reservations aren't required but if you plan to eat at dinner time and it's on the weekend or in tourist season…. The service is great and the atmosphere is old cottage feel, very homey. While not fine dining, it's priced accordingly and on the higher end. It's one of a chain of fine restaurants.

My husband and I have been going to Quebec City together for almost 20 years. Lapin Saute is always one of our favourite restaurants for lunch or dinner. We were in Quebec for a short wintery weekend stay a few weeks ago and enjoyed another excellent meal there. We had made reservations and it was a good thing we did because the place was packed. I guess we're not the only tourists who know that food is always excellent here as is the friendly service!

My husband loved the Cassoulet of rabbit with white beans and I had a lovely fish that was the special that night.

I think one of the things I love so much about this place is the cozy atmosphere. Not fancy but very quaint. And it couldn't be in a better location on literally my favourite street in the whole world! Although we've enjoyed fine dining at many Quebec City restaurants over the years (including Laurie Raphael), there is just something about this place we both love. And prices are reasonable too.

Lapin Saute will always be a place we return to every time we visit Quebec City.
