Description: The magic of the Petit-Champlain district adds to the charm of the Lapin Sauté. By day, this pedestrian street comes alive with the sounds of chatter. By night, the lighting makes shadows dance on the walls of the street's historic houses. Dining at the Lapin Sauté is akin to walking into a warm, quaint and cozy inns from the early 20th century. There is nothing better than sitting in the comfort of this small, friendly 32-seat restaurant where you're always welcomed with open arms. During the summer, the Lapin expands to 52 seats with its outdoor terrace and patrons flock here under the warm sun. In the winter, a fire warms your heart and soul as you discover local country products made and served like nowhere else.

After our customized food tour by Voir Quebec, some of us opted to stay in the old town for lunch rather than return for the predictable lunch on the cruise ship. We were joined by best friends/couple providing conviviality with our well-chosen selections of warmed foie gras over brioche, rabbit cassoulet (enough for two), creme bulee, and glass of muscat.
The resto is packed with probable tourists, but who cares--we are tourists too. A very attractive Annie took good care of us. Our table situation couldn't be better, in a relatively quiet corner.
When we think of Quebec City, we will always remember the memorable lunch here. Oo la la!

My wife had the planked salmon; it was very very good. My shoulder steak of beef was excellent. We had never had rabbit before so we tried the "pulled" rabbit as a starter; it was excellent, milder than chicken. The restaurant reeks of quaint and cute atmosphere with lots of decoration and low ceilings. Make a reservation; it's popular. Prices are not over the top.

We found le lapin saute restaurant on Petite Champlain entirely by accident. In the daytime we were enchanted by the ambiance and decided to try a meal there. We enjoyed our Rabbit Pie so much that we returned the next evening for the same thing (same waitress, too!) I wish we were closer by--we'd be there once a week' It was wonderfu;!

We timed our visit to the Lower Town for midday specifically to visit this restaurant, which we had visited and enjoyed years before. We had an excellent lunch, with separate first courses and splitting the "all rabbit all duck" charcuterie as the main course. We were only in Quebec for 3 nights and, had we not had other special meal plans, would willingly have returned here for other meals to sample other enticing items on the menu. Space is very limited, so I had people brushing past me but fortunately not in a way that disturbed our conversation or our meal. The outdoor garden was even more densely populated (so we dined inside - noise level reasonable, decorations worth seeing.)
