Absolute perfection! We ate the 6 or 7 course meal paired with wine and when they found out it was our honeymoon, they gave us an additional complimentary course prepared by one of their chefs! Quite possibly the best place I've ever eaten in north america! We had a team of servers that would reset the table between every course!

Just returned from brunch at Le Champlain Restaurant at Le Chateau Fairmont.. $47.50 for the finest buffet I have ever seen, eaten at.. Or even heard of.. Lamb with Mint Sauce, Venison Bourgingnon, Beef Wellington, Eggs Benedict, pastas, seafood stews, shrimp, scallops, crab legs, asparagus spears.. Too many more dishes to mention.. Too many deserts to mention... Many Québécois traditional dishes.. This meal will be one of your best memories of Quebec City

We had a delicious meal- everything was cooked tableside and the waiters were so attentive! Had yummy dessert-bananas foster plus a beautiful birthday cake. The 6 of us really enjoyed ourselves and I definitely want to go back again!

This restaurant in the Frontenac is not to be missed. We couldn't afford to stay at the hotel but splurged on dinner just to say we had been. The food was great and the service excellent. The tableside dishes on the menu were a lot of fun. Who doesn't enjoy someone cooking at their table?

Le Champlain restaurant is situated in the iconic Quebec city Chateau Frontenac which is the popular symbol of this great city.

The Setting: Spews class, romance, with a perfect attention to detail in all that you will set your eyes apon.

The Food: The menu caters to the large number of American tourists that come ashore off the cruise ships that visit the port just below the restaurant. As such the menu can be described as North American, simple, inexpensive, and can be completed in less than two hours. I can't help but feel disappointment for the loss of potential for this restaurant.

The course meals on the menu:

6 course dinner for $90CAD (optional wine pairing add $70)
3 course dinner for $53CAD (optional wine pairing add $65)

The menu caters to tourists which means a good selection of dishes. There are also some signature table side services which make for great photo opportunities.

I ordered the 3 course dinner and the wine pair option:
Smoked Tuna
Breast of Pheasant stuffed with rice and truffle in foie gras sauce
Crème Brule

I was very pleased with the wine selection which included a local Quebec white wine made from an indigenous grade (Seyval). The main course was skilfully paired with a nice red from the Rhone region. I was impressed!

I also requested that a cheese and sweet wine course be added to my service and they did not disappoint:
Cheese platter from the monks of the Abbe of Saint Benoit in the Canton de l'est, Quebec paired with Chateau Jolys 2009 Jurancon Cuvee Jean

I strongly recommend all visitors to Quebec to dine at this world famous restaurant at least once. Bring a camera. The décor is romantic. The staff are professional. The food is amazing but the courses are limited. Pricing is extremely reasonable for what is being offered. Everyone can afford to sit for lunch or dinner at least once.
