We read about Clocher Penche on the blog of a traveler who listed a number of not-to-be-missed places in and around Quebec City.
We knew they are a favorite spot for Brunch with locals and tourists alike so we made a reservation - it paid off as we did not have to wait at all. NOTE that parking is street only and sometimes a challenge to find (many one way streets in Quebec City).
They have a short but diverse menu to choose from for Brunch.
They offer a base price for Brunch that includes your coffee/tea/cappuccino/espresso as well as a verrine gourmande (granola, jellie, creme fraiche in a glass) for a starter then you choose your main brunch plate.
I had already planned to have their version of eggs benedict served on waffles with ham, brie, mushrooms, bechamel sauce and herbed, roasted potatoes. Honestly the BEST breakfast dish I have EVER eaten and we are foodies and big breakfast people!
My husband had the casserole of spicy homemade sausage with roasted potatoes, fried cheddar and an onion sauce. Both dishes looked appetizing and were delicious!
All menu items are a play on words and named after religious items so if you read French, they it's quite a fun read. The decor is simple, a bit eclectic, warm & inviting. We were too booked up to return for lunch or dinner otherwise we would most definitely have done so.
If you want to treat yourself to beautifully executed, delicious and well presented food, be sure not to miss Le Clocher Penche - and whilst your in the area, stop in next door across the street for charcuterie and various duck pates and terrines to return home with.
