This was one of the finest dining experiences I have ever had. Le Cafe du Clocher Penche was recommended to us by a knowledgable culinary friend. We were greeted by our waiter Patrick, a terrifically knowledgable and generous server. The pairings suggested by him were right on. Allowing us small tastings of wines before selection, was a smart touch.
My appetizer of homemade cheese with dried duck was subtle but yummy. I hit the jackpot with my choice of local pork. The presentation was lovely with tastes of carrot, squash,and tiny mushrooms. The hint of lemon added interest and Patrick was quick to explain the process the chefs used.
A terrific evening. Long walk. Lots of stairs to burn of every pleasurable calorie.

We had brunch here and loved it.
It was the best meal we had in Quebec City. Close to where we were staying too which was handy.
We has our infant with us, and although not a restaurant we would normally take him to, we were on vacation. He was well behaved and the staff were friendly.

Delicious food in a newer part of town. Less touristy. Somewhat loud but fun and lively ambiance. Be sure to reserve in advance.

The waiter never offered us bread, was slow with refilling our wine glases and we had to ask for more water. That last bit was the most disappointing considering that the place lacks air conditioning and our visit coincided with a sweltering heat wave.

The food is very good and original featuring top notch ingredients. Fantastic salmon tartare.

The space is classically rustic and utterly comfortable. We had a couple of their specialty cocktails- a real treat. Great wines were available by the demi (half bottle) or glass, so we were able to sample two of them- both lovely. We ordered the daily special for two, which was seafood and sausage on a saffron risotto, but different from a paella. It was divine. Clocher Penche gets our highest recommendation.
