An excellent dining experience. Also ate at the Château Frontenac. This was every bit as good. Staff were very attentive and had good recommendations. Well worth the money. English friendly.

We ate here at the recommendation of the concierge at the Frontenac. There were five of us and several ordered the table d'hôte 3 course meal. I had tomato soup with my dinner and my wife ordered lobster bisque. When the soups arrived, they looked and tasted very much alike. We complained to the waiter that the bisque did not begin to taste like bisque. He took the soup and returned shortly with a new lobster bisque. It was the same tomato soup. Perhaps they allowed the lobster to do a few quick laps in it but my wife could taste no lobster. One of our party asked that they save a piece of the chocolate cake that was listed with the 3 course meal when she ordered. The waiter smiled but at the end of the meal, there was no chocolate cake. He just shrugged and offered no explanation. The guest asked if she could come the next day and just pick up her cake. The waiter was unsure when they would have chocolate cake again. Really bizarre service. We had a much better dinner experience at the Pain Beni down the street the next night. Side note—this restaurant was included in a “Foodie Walking Tour” of the city that I visited the next day. They had the skimpiest canapé of the eleven firms we visited. Reinforced my perceptions of the previous evening.

We crossed North America from Maine to Victoria, BC in July and August 2010, and our meal at La Crémaillère was far and away the best. We had the table d'hôte 3 course meal and the cuisine of each part was exquisite. We chose one of the least expensive wines and it was top-class. So often meals are let down by the vegetables, but they were cooked with flavour and interesting sauces. A steak was quite superb. This is top French cuisine in a lovely restaurant in the Old City. We paid £114 for two people- and yes, that's expensive, but it was the meal of a lifetime!

The occasion was my wife's 50th Birthday and we were honored by Michelle (one of the Owners) who did so by serving us personally. Needless to say the evening was a treasure.
The place was very tastefully decorated it was quite and there was no rush. The food was excellent as was the fine wine. We will be back.

There used to be a very good French restaurant at this location but since that proprietaire retired and another establishment took its place, we decided to give it a try. While the food here is above average, everything else about this restaurant detracts from that. It looks like an overblown movie set of an expensive French restaurant but all is pretense and the staff here is just acting a part. There is no personal touch. There seemed to be 2 maitre'd's who swept around importantly, a cadre of busboys who spoke neither French nor English, and a truly inattentive waiter who appeared theatrically with a big, fat pepper grinder when each course was presented. It was almost laughable, except when the bill was presented. Skip this farce.

Dear Sir:
My name is Luigi and I m the new manager of La Cremaillere. I was very disappointed reading your comments. It surprised me because it is at the contrary of the most part of comments. May-be we deserved you bad criticism and we don't' look forward being excused but we would like to amend your perception of our restaurant. Since 1971 La Cremaillere piles awards up and delighted and incalculable amount of Epicurean.Today we have one of greatest French Cuisine Chef of Quebec history and an unparalleled and remarkable wine cellar. Also I"m sure that the service we provide can disappoint you again. Why don't you contact us? we will be glad to easy your second try to the restaurant la Cremaillere.
Kind regards.

Luigi Boezio
